I'm aiming to add functionality to the website so that you can order custom boards directly from the website along with the trucks/wheels of your choosing, and of course use e-mail for more complicated custom orders.

One thing that I need help with though is which bearings to offer, there are a ton of bearings carried by the distro but I feel like it would be redundant to offer like 8 identical ABEC 7 bearings. Theres a few that stand out that I am definitely planning on offering including; Biltins and some titanium and ceramic bearings.

I feel like I should just choose one or two brands to fill the role of the standard inexpensive skate bearing, heres a list of what offered let me know your opinions on them:
    Retail around $8:
    Riot gear
    Rush

    Retail around 11-$14:
    Quickies
    Speed Demon
    Destructo (come with bearing spacers)
    Bomber
FDK (come with bearing spacers and lube)

    Retail about $20:
    Lucky
Black Panther (come with bearing spacers and speed rings)
    Tensor Oust Moc 5

Let me know what you think, maybe one from each price range would be good? I'm not sure.
just offer redz and bilitins they are the best.
Cant we all just get a longboard?

unfortunately I can't get reds, if I could it would definitely be an easier choice, I made a thread in the wheels/bearings forum where people seemed to favor the FDK, which seems to work well especially considering the free bearing spacers and lube.

What im thinking at the moment is something like this

    Rush abec 7 $9
    FDK abec7 $14.5
    Biltins $22
    Rush Titanium Ceramic $29

seems like it should cover everything without getting to complicated

That sucks about your car. I'm definitely planning on going to boarding for boobies. Not sure if I'm going to race though I'm working on finding some steeper roads to get some practice on. But I might be heading over to Thompson park tomorrow which I hear can get close to 40, so we'll see

Had a chance to ride a Nelson carbon drop through today briefly on a local hill. I was really impressed. The build quality was very nice, and the feel was just great.

It had a snappy flex which supported my 190 lbs just fine. I felt like every carve I could rip a speed check if I needed to. Just a super fun board. Slides like a mofo.

Thanks for the feed back. It was a really fun session with some nice hills. Also it was cool to have someone to ride and 'talk longboards' with.

I'll be home in two weeks if you ever want to make a trip down to south jersey let me know we have a few nice local spots. and I can probably make the trip back up at some point.

Oh, and the last two boards of the semester will be done tomorrow, so I'll have pics up. Also, I'm working on updating the website to allow for automatic ordering, and will start actually taking orders for the summer soon.

Finished the last two boards before my finals. A seasoned carver with custom printed graphics, and a red/purple carbon dropthrough.

I've been working a bit on the website and pretty soon you will be able to order custom boards straight off of the website.

Also I will be adding a little store to buy trucks, wheels, bearings, hardware as well.

I'm planning on making the changes in the next few days to prepare for when I start building again in a little over a week.

Oooh! The carver looks really nice.

I threw some randals on my topmount from you, and it feels better than with the Originals. Way stiffer, but dang tall with 50* plates. Now I'm thinking about dropping it through. Is it too late or can this still be done? I have no experience with (or access to) power tools.

I'm glad that the flex got better with the Randall. Next time I make a board for originals I'll have to factor in the longer wheel base better. If you have the mean a dropthrough cutout can definitely be added. I did my first with a dremel and various attachments which took quite a while but its possible. If your planning on trying it I would reccomend using a test piece of wood first to try to get it right before cutting into the board

Yeah, I want to add a dropthrough cutout. But now that I think about it, twas a silly question to ask-- I'll just find a cabinetmaker or something like that and see if they'll do it for me. I like the Randals well enough to commit to a dropthrough and just put the Originals on a different deck, as fun as they are.

yea originals are really tricky to match up with a deck 've had a set sitting around for a while and cant decide what type of board to put them on or make for them.

yea that would probably work. Recently Ive also been thinking of making a stiffer seasoned carver with some deep concave and dropping it through. Seems like it could be a really good 'free ride' board.

    New Online Store!

I've been working hard to get the updates to the website done before
summer. The site has been updated with the capability to order custom
boards straight from the website, for the Seasoned Carver and the
Carbon Dropthrough. An online store has also been added in the
'Order' section offering a wide variety of trucks, wheels and bearings.
Currently it is very basic but functional, in the coming weeks I will
be updating it with pictures and more information on all of the products.

Since ordering can now be conducted through the website I have
added an 'estimated build time' below the banner on the top of the
page this will be useful to give an idea of the current build time. Two
new models are also going to be added to the lineup, the 'Pheonix
Hybrid" and the 'Half Nelson' mini they can currently be seen in the
gallery and will have their own information/order pages soon.
Lastly I am thinking about adding a section to show the progress of
the current builds which will allow you to easy check on the progress
    of your board.

Let me know what you guys think I would love to here any feedback or suggestions that you might have.

Oh, and the trucks /wheels store section stands on its own so you don't need to be ordering them as part of a complete or anything. So even though I will not be building any boards until May 9th trucks/wheels etc are available for immediate shipment.

also as a little shop opening special *First 3 Orders over $15 will receive a free set of Rush Bomber Bearings*

I still havn't found the perfect board for them yet. but I'm planning on building myself a phoenix hybrid when I get some time so I will definitely try them out on that.

The specs are 37"x9" with a 24-25" wheel base. It has mild concave with a kicktail. and it is 3/8" thick Baltic Birch sandwiched in fiberglass, with a carbon fiber re-enforced tail to keep it relatively stiff. The cutouts are definitely big enough for 70mm wheels and I designed them to fit up to 75mm wheels but havn't had a chance to test it out.

When I get some more free time to update the site I will add more info and pictures as well as an order section. If you have any questions let me know, and interested in one send me a pm or e-mail ( nelsonlongboards@gmail.com ).

Oh and heres pictures of the two pheonix carver that are out there. They are owned by foejoley and wakesavage here on silverfish so if you have questions about how it handles you can ask them.

Is it possible you can make a test board (just a sheet of stained and poly'd wood) of different stain colors so we see what they look like?
