do you still make decks with hemp inside? and does it really work for dampening? i was always curious about this

I'm pretty sure the knuckle dragger has hemp....essentially hemp is like any fabric it gets wetted and layered in the pressing, it just has better vibration absorption characteristics than glass or carbon at a similar weight

*Neuros… pm me, locals are always invited to visit the shop. Each Airotica has been unique in some fashion… but… we are working on a light, stiff, affordable Airotica composite speedboard and production prototypes are slowly appearing hear & there.
* hemp does indeed help because of the length of the natural fibers, Mercedes uses it in their door panels… did a lengthy write up of this on the builders forum back a year or so ago

*Tony…LOL… It’s Knuckleduster not knuckle drag’r a Knuckleduster is 1930’s slang for brass knuckles… like this board; tough Americana, and every kid should have one (har!)
*Re: “production prototypes” , they are extra testers that didn’t get ridden., We make a batch with one material mix and shape and learn the best way to build, try different finishes etc… the ones that don’t get ridden (provided the ones that do are quality riders) get sold off at a discount. They are sometimes a little rough, sometimes they are absolutely perfect boards that have the best of everything… most of them are unique as they are production steps to a new model. They are always a good deal.
* Re: What Max was riding: A production proto of the Airotica speedboard... mentioned above. Not yet avail. Max says it is too stiff... We're working on it & yes it had hemp but future ones may not.. or they may.. we're working on it.

A few folk have inquired about the snakeskin board done for the building competition and it has been claimed already… But, production prototypes are going to be available starting with this one: (without snakeskin of course)

Airotica “Hoodwalker”




52” slight cambered Doublekick. 9.2” wide ½” concave 6.5” tail for easy mannys 5.25” nose… this one has a slightly shorter wheelbase at 32”+ Construction is a mix of 66% maple 33% Birch with fiberglass & Pink formica Bottom Skin. Ungripped.
This board is a total blast and pretty light…good for riders up to 180lbs. or so, great carver and manual machine drilled old school. The hoodwalker is a work in progress and we’re playing with a lot of material mixes so we can build it affordably and tweaking the design to get the most fun out of it.

Guess is between 32-33.5" the one you rode was 33" I think... all these numbers are starting to jumble... a long day. Har har you and that baton! Kids lucky you didn't have that spear handy!

wow the WB was really that short? felt longer....still I could deal with the front a little further out there.

I was working...it was either Baton or gun and at that time I had no desire to shoot anyone (still don't)....I didn't even break his wrist but he was bruised for weeks

OK… all the colored Knucledusters are gone accept the yellow… & that is on hold till tomorrow… still have a few white ones and possibly a second yellow and a pink blem. Candy Spanks #433 is gone too.

Tony: you were right, that one had a 33.75” WB….
Re: hemp in the knuckleduster or blackbirds, not in general… there are a few special ones floating around and can be done to order.
Re: Clutch, Airotica, Candy Spanks… they are three distinct entities but, there is some overlap… suffice it to say when I feel like coasting down by the beach barefoot and drinking tequila, I’m riding a CS… when I’m gonna beat a board silly, I’m bringing a Clutch… the three are each a really long story and it’s gonna get worse. In the fall I’m coming out with a couple of speedboards under the name “Dark Matter”(think carbon) but, no other details right now, none, not telling. As a wise man once said, ‘to define a thing, is to kill a thing”... just let the mystery unfold & enjoy.

More boards tomorrow, would have had a few tonight but, a bunch of stuff that was gonna go up got snagged this afternoon.
