    Default Venom Updates

This is Shane from the Madrid Skateboards headquarters in Huntington Beach, CA. For those of you who don't know, Madrid and Venom are both part of Full Circle Distribution, so I'll be using this thread to post updates on all the new Venom products that come through.

Starting with... 70mm/80A Tweakers, still warm from the urethane factory.

These are going out to shops and will be available at fullcircledistribution.com next week.

    More to come soon!

Those 80a tweakers will probably be my next freeride wheel. Any chance of making the other shapes of venom bushings into the ronin size? I'd love to try the freeride, elim shape boardside in my ronins as im not a fan of cupped washers.

Someone asked my thoughts on the newly dropped 76a Cannibals, figured i'd copy/paste the message minus a few road names + better grammar.

Also seems alot of people are interested in how duro compares to your weight, so all experiences/ opinions below are given by a 155lb 5'9" me.

My Setup: Double drop prototype, ronins 184 40/30, 76a 76mm Cannibals

I've been riding these since the Barrett Junction Outlaw a few weeks ago, fairly dedicated to the 76mm 76a Cannibals(no need to ride smaller wheels). Got about four days of riding on them this past weekend on a road with really gnarly pavement. On bad pavement these wheels really shine, the softer duro helps absorb road imperfections and helps you take better lines because you won't be sliding out as easy as you would on a harder duro. Barrett truly put these wheels to the test, I wouldn't ride anything else down that road. Trying to grip hairpins while adjusting to the switch from topmount to double-drop and horrendous pavement was interesting but these made my job alot easier.

I know most people's inclination is usually to run harder duros when you're riding perfect pavement but these perform differently than other soft duro wheels I've ridden. The roll speed on these was surprising to me, I'm used to thinking that I will be somewhat sluggish on soft wheels if we're on a newly paved road. It turned out to be the opposite, I was riding with a few kids who had 78a's that often smoke me down hills and I was keeping up with them, even making it hard for them to keep up.

I took these down the Buffalo Bill course as well as GMR while I was in California and as Zak put it "they just don't stop gripping". On 78a's for example if you're railing a corner there is a point where the lip flexes to a point that you start to scrub, but these wheels are without that point. You rail a corner and they consistently grip through turns it's awesome.

The first few slides on these definitely honked a little bit, as most new wheels should, but once broken in they were comparable to the smoothness of any freeride wheel slide with the grip of a square lipped wheel. I'm really impressed with these and will be running them at whatever races I get to this year. I'm eager to see how these perform in warm weather. I want to see how these will hold up after a few runs in 80* weather down the sharp turns of Maryhill. Currently I've only skated these wheels in sub 60* weather on terrible pavement except for the Buffalo Bill Course which is very nicely paved.

I've caught myself tucking through corners I usually would be hesitant about, many roads we skate have gravel corners and the soft duro seems to absorb the impact of rocks on the wheels way better than 80a's i have ran there on past occasions. I'm impressed with these wheels and their ability to ride anything. I've downhilled these, freerode them a bit, and slash them around campus everyday of the week.

    Check 'em out!

I'm really stoked on these wheels. I can't imagine how much more smoother my ride will feel with these and my ronins that be coming in next week.
