Another Pa Event Before Summer Ends?

I might be able to host it here in State College, Pa. There are campgrounds, and I know of an awesome spot. I talked to some of you guys today in Clearfield about it. There is a 1000 foot drop but it is over about a 2.5 mile road.

There is also another road right below that on the google map that is twice as long and drops an extra 400 feet called Laurel Run Rd. It is much more mellow, but about 5 miles of mellow slightly winding downhill. I'm planning on riding it this Thursday, so I will get some pictures or some footage of both hills.

Maybe another in Harrisburg too. I'm going to work on a road closure but if not there is always the easy route

I'd really like to get some stuff together for a weekend here at Penn State. There is a decent amount to do, and a lot to ride. Campus is really fun to cruise through, and there are some good winding hills. If you guys want to ride those Tussey Mountain Hills, we could do that Saturday morning. I'm sure they are raceable, and I can work on getting some sponsors, or giveaways. Also I could work on getting an entrance fee and prize money for the winners. If people want to, everyone could come in Friday night, and stay at my place. I have 2 apartments open and could probably sleep 15-20+ people in each if everyone brings sleeping bags. Also, I could talk to the people at the place that I rent from and see if we can throw up some tents outside. I'm sure they will be okay with it. I will get a couple of kegs or whatever, and we can have a cookout and everything Friday or Saturday. We have a fire pit, and we can stay out by the fire as late as you guys want. There are some awesome hills close by, and everything. Let me know. I feel like we would have an awesome time here.

I would definitely be down for anything in the area. The Clearfield race was so much fun, all I want now is another race.

I sent out an email to some sponsors to see what we can do for prizes if we decide to have an event here. Would you guys be more interested in seeing something where we had giveaways such as decks, trucks, wheels, and stuff, or would you rather have an entrance fee and a payout?

EDIT: or both?

I got some of this stuff figured out. I have two roads that I think will be good. The one is over about 2.5 miles. The first 1000ft of the road (from where we would start,) is ~a 12degree grade, and then the rest is a steady 8 degrees or so the rest of the way. I'm going to go Tuesday to ride it and see exactly what it is like.

The second hill is parallel to it (about 1000 feet apart,) and drops steadily over about 5 miles. This road probably wouldn't be any good for a race, but I will check it out Tuesday when I'm up there and let you guys know. I will take the GPS. I want to know who might be interested before I get too far into this with sponsors, and informing the county and all of these things. Let me know if you guys think it will be possible so I can submit an event. What weekends would be good? They have fireworks the 4th of July weekend, if you guys think that would be goo. Just let me know what is good for you guys so I know. 8) I'm stoked.

I'm totally down for driving up to central PA...especially if the run is gnarly. I may be gone the weekend of the fourth though...We'll see. I'd love to hit another race up as soon as I can.

yes more racing.

gonna spend all day tomorrow playing with setups on the new clutch and getting the feel of the evo out of my muscle memory.

give me at least a few weeks and i'll make sure i have the whole weekend off work for a sick couple days of skating.

Hey man, i'm not trying to rain on your parade, but you should do your planning before you post up on silverfish... and you shouldn't post up locations on silverfish anymore, there are some people out there that don't like us skateboarding...anywhere...

so yeah... if you need help planning send PM's and all that, and i'm sure some of the guys who have planned a race/hosted a race will be willing to help out.

I'm working on getting the road shut down by the sheriff. It is easy to detour, and we will only need it for a few hours. I just need help spreading the word. The roads are in the back woods, so I'm not too worried about people bothering us. I hope they don't anyhow. So let people know. Thanks Keith.

What Keith said, don't post details especially dates and locations unless it's on the up and up. Just ask for e-mail addresses and communicate either that way or through other, more private means. Better safe than sorry........although cop cars do make for good video footage.
