    Default Bethany, Rehoba

My family and I are going to visit these beaches and boardwalks. I'm thinking of bringing a board, but I can only bring one. I am thinking of either my 47" Sector 9 Pintail for easy gentle carving and dancing, or my Loaded Fish for small distances and fighting through pedestrians.

I've never been to these places, what are they like? So many people that I should take the Fish instead? Wide roads so I could take my pintail? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

    EDIT: Rehoboth...

I was just at Bethany Beach last week. I brought my Landy Evo down since it's the only one I own, haha. I rode along the side of the highway and in and out of some neighborhoods. You just aren't allowed to skate on the sidewalks or the boardwalks there, the police are super anal about that. I would have taken them seriously, but compared to NYPD they're a joke.

You'd be better off bringing your Loaded, it can get quite crowded there and pedestrians do not like to move for longboarders.

Have fun though and don't get burnt.

Oh man, I thought I could go on the boardwalks and it's actually forbidden??

Well, as long as I don't get beat down, I'll probably bring my Fish and hope to find clear roads.

EDIT: I didn't realize their websites had a long answer too:

    Bethany:

    SKATEBOARDING SAFETY TIPS
    Always wear approved safety equipment
Avoid skateboarding beyond your capabilities and experience
Always be aware of potential pot holes, loose gravel, stones, and sand on streets
Be aware of surrounding vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic

    SKATEBOARDING RULES
    It is a violation to:

Skateboard on the boardwalk, boardwalk ramps, on or in the vicinity of the Bandstand. (Damage to Town property resulting from skateboarding subject to criminal arrest)
    Skateboard on a sidewalk
Skateboard on Garfield Avenue east of RT. 1.
Skateboard on Atlantic Avenue between Parkwood St. and Central Ave.
    Skateboard on Pennsylvania Avenue
Erect jumping boards, ramps, or other objects on streets or Town “right-of-way”

    Rehoboth:
Skateboards are prohibited on the boardwalk and bandstand year-round and on the sidewalks and streets at all hours from May 15 through September 15.

Bloody terrible, no where for me to go.

Oh wow, I never even saw those rules, hahaha. No one stopped me or anything, except when I was about to skate onto the sidewalk I was yelled at by 3 (yes 3) different 'police' officers. Other than that no one bothered me 8)

Got yelled at at Rehoboth last year. Cop got me at the car, asked for ID, etc. Let me go with just a warning. Said "someone had called me in". WTFT?!

Alright I'm in Delaware with internet access for a short amount of time. I was at Bethany Beach yesterday but didn't have my Fish with me. But, looking at the place, it didn't seem like you could skate anywhere! Those no skateboarding signs were everywhere, and there would be at least 1 cop somewhere to enforce.

Today I may stop by Rehoboth but from what I've read, it seems that it's even worse trying to ride there. I suppose I'll just have to leave it in the car or something.

I did get to ride around a neighbourhood elsewhere though, it was flat and smooth. Looks like east coach beaches just aren't very lenient towards skateboarding. I wonder how it is on the west coast and elsewhere in the world.

I don't remember a bike lane, but I'm not usually looking for places to skate when I'm at the beach. Too busy lookin at the girrrrlllllsss in their beach attire

What street does it run down, coastal highway? How far does it go, from whee to where?

I usually go to Wildwood, NJ but they just past a no skateboard or roller blade law for the boardwalk, even in the mornings when they use to let you ride So the family is thinking of spending more time in OC.

Alright I'm back. So Bethany and Rehoboth boardwalks both had clear signs of "No Skateboarding", and some cops. However, I did see some street skaters occasionally breaking the law by riding through the boardwalk anyways.

Later I went to Cape May and Atlantic City over in New Jersey. Cape May would not allow any boarding on the "Promenade" (yet bikes and rollerbladers could go on it), so I tried going on the road a bit, but there were way too many cars. As for the Atlantic City boardwalk, there was also "No Skateboarding" even though the place was huge enough to accomodate push-rickshaws, bicycles, and rollerbladers who were allowed all over.

Well, surfing was good at least. I also got some nice pictures of my Fish and at the abandoned WWII bunker on the Cape May beach.

You should be able to skate down to Godons Pond I would think. And on the Lewes side, there's some hills at Cape Henlopen.

Yeah, if you wanna skate anywhere in Sussex County, then go to Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes. It's like 2 miles north of Reho.
Bethany on the other hand, not much to skate there besides side roads as you cant skate on garfield. I've been chased down by them too many times. There is a little bridge on Kent that you can get a little speed. But nothing much at all.

And the bike lane is actually a part of the highway, and I havent been yelled at yet and ive lived in OC all my life, but apparently you cant skate in the bus/bike lane.
