Philadelphia rider needs some company

hey everyone, new to the forums but not to the longboard, ive been riding around philly since I was in middle school like 10 years ago or so and im looking to find some riders who ride downtown frequently. Since i grew up most of my crew fell off for whatever reason but I still ride everyday down here after work. I pretty much just tear busy streets up because im solo but i get down with sliding, bombing hills, cruising etc. Just need some people around here to ride with. I Iive by 20th and chestnut and Im not some wierdo so dont worry.

I just moved here and I'm definitely looking to ride with some people who know the area. I'm from Mass. and I'm used to empty-street, big hill carving, sliding and cruising. This whole traffic thing is crazy, getting used to it though. I ride a wingnut flexdex, big sector 9 pool deck, and a blank standard deck with truck mounts moved out to the tail and nose, all on RII's.

I'd love to join y'all and skate, but I need to get a board! I have seen some longboards around town and really want to get one. Anyone have a good suggestion for a decent commuter board to use through town?
Also are there any good shops in Philly for longboards? or should I just grab everything online?

i havent been able to find any shops around here. i would suggest Longboard Skater - Longboard Skateboards. they have a good selection, great prices and free shipping on everything. as far as a commuter board goes, i would suggest practically anything with a kicktail. im looking at the xvd croc myself.

Bainbridge skate shop has a gravity hyper carver I believe, which is a quality board. If you go somewhere like zumiez they carry sector 9s. I think your best bet would be the internet, or getting something off of craigslist.

As far as a good commuter board, it depends on what your looking for. I think the most important things for me getting around the city is a kick-tail and drop thru for easier pushing. The bustin strike fits all my needs perfectly.

I ride a Sector9 Teahapoo, got pads and surdeon gloves. I'm ot some creey old geezer. 36 here and have surfed Stewart Hyrdro Hulls for 20 years, and still going. I have no idea where to ride in Philly. I work in Camden and want to skate Philly when I can.
