.....the sun is shining an' the kids are shouting loud
but you gotta know it's shining through a crack in the cloud
and the shadows keep falling when johnny comes marching home...
16th Through the 18th Works fantastically! count at least 2/3rds of Be Square in! I will check with Moose and others around town to see if they wanna make the journy.
We talked about it in June - Is there interest in running a Push Race on the Cannon Valley trail? - It is a little outside of the immediate Twin Cites. A 10 mile push race from Cannon Falls to Welch may be a good early morning event and then a met up back in the Cities for other events. We had a turn out of 12 for the first Cannon Pusher and it seemed to go well. Most of the same support would be provided (refreshments, Van transportation, etc). 2 Classes could be used. Class 1 - Fastest, Class 2 Fewest Number of Pushes. Also the Lake Calhoun Loop works for a 3 Mile Pusher.
I think the idea of cannon falls for the push race might be pretty rad... certainly will have much less bike traffic than the greenway... the only question in my mind is when we should do it- I'm thinking that having it after the other events might be a better idea, as I for one anticipate having some sore ass calf muscles after another 20 mile push/pump
as for lodging- one idea is camping, if it's not too freezing or if y'all have cold weather gear- there's a state park literally down the street from the afton runs.
I don't suppose anyone has a timing system/start ramp for slalom? I'd like to build one, but I don't have any place to store it.
anyway, just trying to get stuff out there. feel free to throw out some ideas guys.
I'm going to pass on the camping deal. haha its getting cold as balls outside.
What kind of format are we going to have for this event? Point system?
yeah I suppose it's not going to get any warmer in two weeks
for the point system, I think it would be easiest to do it this way- give each skater a point for their place in each event- 1st gets 1 point, 2nd gets 2, etc - then the winner of the overall is the person with the least amount of points.
I say we commit to the 3 mile pusher around Lake Calhoun. This will keep all the events local. I will stop in at Cal Surf this weekend and discuss with them. This will need to be an early or late event to avoid some of the path traffic. Sunday AM - 9am start?
Also - any multi-discipline skaters may want to check into this Cal Surf event on Saturday the 17th.

make sense?
I think the point system should be like this:
1st place = 3 points
2nd place = 2 points
3rd place = 1 point
4th place = 0.5 points (just for shits and giggles)
Not everyone will compete in each event so if we go by the least amount of points then it wont really be fair for people that compete in more races. However if we go by most points it will encourage people to compete in more events. Does that make sense?
hmm... yeah it says 40% chance of rain on next friday... too bad we didn't pick this weekend, it's great outside now and looks like it'll hold for a bit.
Yeah but it was supposed to rain all week and we've had some alright days up here so and it's over a week off and I barely trust next day forecasts so... I'm not too concerned yet.
yeah it's a crapshoot.. friday is down to 30% now... perhaps we should plan on doing the majority of the events on friday? maybe just leave slalom until sunday...
