    Default Bowls In Michigan

Is anyone aware of any bowls at all in Michigan. There are few places that have bowls. One place is The Modern Skatepark Located in Novi, but me and the team were wondering if anyone else knows of some secret places weve missed. Thanks.

there is a bowl near the detroit zoo in royal oak. I forget the city name but its really small and pretty much near royal oak. Its on 11 mile and coolidge. Its a three tiered bowl with a small med and deep end but the coping sticks really far out and you get hung up a lot. Its a free park bowl type thing with a rythm section and some grind features around the perimeter. That park in farmington looks f-ing awesome

I've only skated it once and that was during that week where it was like 100 degrees all week. I hear its usually pretty busy. I guess a buncha older guys with old school pool decks rip it up and keep the little popsickle stick hazard kids discouraged and away. I had some trouble getting used to my little deck because I hadn't ridden trans in 2 years but after a while I was getting back into it and could pump the whole bowl and get some nice rock and rolls and tails and 50-50s in but that coping caused all kinds of havoc and I ended up with sore wrists for like 3 weeks

If you have any information send it my way (like exact location, website and such) because I'll check it out after school.

Yup...I went there today after school. It had just finished raining, so the bowl was soked, and I was riding my 98a yellowjackets, so it was pretty sketchy, but I hadn't ridden a bowl in over 3 years so I couldn't resist. I stayed there for about an hour and a half until it really started to rain...pretyy nice. I did get hung up on that coping a couple of times...but it was still really fun

Thankfully I hate street skating, because that park sucks for it; I guess it's a good thing because it'll keep all the "dude, gnarley" kickflippers out.

Thanks for pointing that park out to me. I'll be out there tomorow too, weather permiting...

yea the bowl is really fun. Its the first multi-teird bowl I ever ridden and its fun to kickturn the deep end and bertslide. I found it rather easy to get air anywhere in that bowl but since I don't know how to land I always just bail and almost #### my pants. I wish I had a bowl near by on this side of the state while I'm at school. We do have a Modern skatepark near though and their bowl looks awesome plus they have fossil nights wednesdays at 930 for people 20 and over so I wouldnt have to worry about smaller kids and I doubt there are very many older guys over here.

That modern pool looks great...but not free. I can't get air right now (Haven't skated pools in 3 years) except on the hip, but not above the coping... I went back and hit it up again today...so fun.

You Downstate riders are makin me jealous! look at all that sweet 'crete. Might have to make a pilgrimage before the weather turns. Nothing like that up here all we got are plywood parks (I rode better halfpipes in backyards decades ago) & 1 "street" park in Traverse city. I gotta hit up city hall or something, get some people moving on this obvious north/south bowl gap

Hey Brants, where do you live?

As far as the Mr. Hanky Pool (I guess that's what there calling it), I'm going back there at ~5:00... My only real complaint is that theres no tiles right below the coping. I love having tiles because on a backside carve, you know how high you are, whith this pool, you just hear metal on metal...and then you know.

Hey, Fat Bastard, I live in Petoskey, the Petoskey skate park is super lame, couple o' plywood quarters & some kickers, in a space that holds about 4 skaters. the Pellston park is bigger but still just a collection of wood quarters. Haven't ridden a crete bowl since I left Ohio (nice parks in Ohio).
