Re: Michigan Longboarding!
Checked out the spot for tomorow at 7am...
Smooooth pavement, probly hit 40 or so. Problem is theirs a cross walk at the bottom of the hill made out of bricks so that could get sketchy.
Theirs a tight left turn before the cross walk that could avoid it though.
Backside of the hills nice too

Also got the orange freerides on the way. Next week is gonna be better than christmas for me.
Is anyone else from lansing going to the Chicago slalom on March 21st? I'm looking to get my slalom setup right before this and maybe go on a day or two worth of practice. I dont really care if I get slaughtered. Anyone want to carpool? If we can get a few guys I'd go because it would only be like $50-60 (food,gas,$25 optional entry) each for the day. I just want to get my feet wet before the wiggle war.
I think I am in for this. Not sure how its going to work out with school and everything, but would be down to car pool too if it all works out. PM me later and well figure it out. Word

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
Shreded the gnar the last two days, taught 2 new girls how to skate, finally got my park board dialed in (I am now even more convinced that rainskates are the sickest, i said SICKEST, park wheels in the history of life), did a bunch of dancing, did a bert slide, still failed at doing standup 180's , worked on my manuals, my venom eliminators came in and they are way sicker than green stims (anyone want some green stims?), and of course it's snowing today, so i guess my weekend riding is done

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
Time to agree with everything Tagsrover said. Ska1234 (starter of this thread!) came up with a couple buddies to visit Friday night. We fit 7 people and about 11 boards in a Trailblazer, and shredded the gnarliest garage in East Lansing for an hour or so. We taught a kid how to skate on an Ed Economy. We skated until I almost hit a car coming up head on (holy sh!t I've never been so scared skating in a long time), then a very friendly cop came about 30 minutes later to say that we weren't getting tickets but we had to get out. So we just went to a different garage. After looking up the Municode, we learned that the tickets for skating garages are $5-$20. Cheap lift tickets anyone?
The next day we got up at 9ish, skated some sidewalk runs because Spring Awakening was going on at the garage I wanted to hit. These sidewalk runs are actually relatively fun, and you can definitely work on your drifting on some hairpins. One of the runs even has a left and a right hairpin. We got a 3 person draft train going and went really far around campus surprisingly. The streetboarder broke a wheel off his board so I kicked like the dickens back to my dorm to grab my Purple Heart and we skated a little bit longer. We went to McDonald's and I realized at 1:05 that I was supposed to be at work 5 minutes ago. I ended up sprinting, Good Deal style, back to my dorm and was at late 15 minutes early. Clocked out at 4, was at the skatepark at 4:15! Skated longboards, boardwalkers, slideboards, banana boards, and street decks through Ranney Skatepark for a couple hours, then called it a night because Preston and them had a gig that night. And if you're wondering what the best all around slide and park wheels are, get some 98A Rainskates and don't look back! These things are obscenely fast in the park, in the garage, and actually quiet when you slide. I got my frontside 180's, switch frontside 180's, and switch backside 180's down on hard wheels. I'm working on my frontside 360's too.
After eating some dinner and playing some Super Smash Bro's we headed out to the more mellow garage on campus. This time we only jammed 6 people in the Trailblazer. The collective taught my friend Ally and our friend Carly's roommate how to skate up on top. After 2 runs, Ally was carving the whole garage by herself. I worked on carving it switch to keep a reasonable speed for the new skaters, and I was getting way more comfortable with it. I also got my 4 wheel frontside slides down pat, my frontside 180's almost down, and I'm working on the backside speed checks.
The stoke is palpable in East Lansing; get your long johns, jeans, sweatshirt, hoodie, vest, and coat on and get up here! It'll be even better when it's warm. Not to mention we have a relatively slow (25ish) DH spot to shred.
