Re: Michigan Longboarding!
generally the goal is that, yes, to be stronger and lighter than wood. these ended up about the same weight, maybe a little lighter than the wood boards jason has cut. Flex is minimal but would be noticeable on longer boards.
once we gain more experience with different types of fiberglass, we'll be able to control flex and other aspects while maintaining a light(er) weight board.

Also tags, fiberglassing allows us to add concave without a press..
Well they look pretty sweet looking, I'm going to have to try one out. Peter and I were thinking we should have a slalom night coming up here soon if we can find some nice weather.

GGLB Presents: Madness In The Mitten Distance Race
there is the event page, pass it around to everyone you can. Also send them an email registering. I'm sure we will be able to find you guys a ride. And a place to crash if you need it.
In other news, couple additions to my quiver. My slalom trucks are here waiting for the deck (due in like tomorrow or friday), my coldwar parkbomb came in and is setup with indy 169's and rainskates and is ready to ****ing rip, and my zip zinger is setup waiting for some bertz to come in. It's about to be ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!

I got a skennet (modified bennet down to 101mm from sk8kings) front, and a rts rear. I'm thinking 10-12 degree wedge for the skennet, and then 7-10 for the rts (after wedging to zero from the kicktail). They are going on a subsonic saint 30" (the 1st version with the rounded nose). Then split duro 70mm zig zags for wheels. I've also got some venom, khiro, abec11, radikal, and stim bushings to play around with and hopefully get them all tuned in the next week.

Right on, sounds like a good set up. With 70 mm zags you might be able to get away with 10* but 12 would probably suit the skennet better. Be glad you didn't opt. for the Skandal rear, I hated mine and went back to the RTS.

I bought the whole thing used of someone. i would have just gone rtx/s but he had a skennet and basically gave it away, so i couldn't turn it down. I doubt i'll ever upgrade (at least not for a while) but if i do it's gonna be like a splitfire or radikal me thinks.
EDIT: Also, we should get a michigan slalom event together for sometime this summer.

Did you order the Vicious Grip direct from their site?

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
"skandal's" take a ton of dialing in; if they're perfect they stick like mad but if you're off in tuning one bit you're sketching out. although this is pretty true with any rear truck in slalom, once you hit that sweet spot you're good. sometimes moving your foot an inch makes more difference than changing setups. I don't mind an RTS rear, but personally find seismic 105's to have more traction and rebound without the eye-gouging precision truck price tag. (just a 30 degree on the rear, I don't like them up front)
as far as an event, I think this summer is way too soon to try to plan a real slalom race. maybe something small/local, but as far as real races i say we try to support the wiggle war and buckeye open(is there a buckeye this year?), and see if the detroit fellas can pull something together in the fall. People are booked and/or broke this year, hence why i say this summer would be too soon to get any real presence, and without at least half a dozen pros to hold things together, good luck running your first race in any efficient manner. I know I'm always the guy shooting down the idea of a slalom race, but i'm just trying to be realistic here- it's a HUGE responsibility to do it right. That being said, slalom is probably going to get huge in the midwest over the next few years especially, with the introduction of the chicago race. we should get something going in MI, but IMO there's no need to rush it.

Yeah, I didn't get a very good vibe from TNT. I think I will wait until MHS gets some in stock.
