bessy already has the ramp up/step down by some doors. We could have a section where you have to stop and run up 1 level then keep going down. Barriers to duck under and hippie jump over? slalom esque cone setups, some kind of rumble strips or bump section, then all thats left is to build a jump for the end. wood is decently cheap, and we could make/keep it at jay/als house? since apartments and dorms lack serious room, the blueprint is in my head

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
ran the saginaw nasty rail trail today. 10 miles one way! awesome smooth asphalt again. dudes, if you want some serous long distance country riding on a consistently long smooth surface, this was a magical piece of work today.
of course, this is not for those who want to skate around the driveway and thru the alleys. i'm so turned on by the last two days of skogging the country sides in both Bay City and Saginaw that I'm hitting the stitch in Midland tomorrow. This should push me up near 200 miles of skatin terrain in the last 5 days here in good old michigan!
Here's the pdf of this place. dudes, way better than anything in san diego.
http://www.saginawcounty.com/Docs/Pa...20trailmap.pdf
love it here! and yes, one of these days i'll come down and show you all how 40 year old skaters can rip up the DH. try goin' 70 on a short board with just shorts on! on second thought, nooooo. don't even think of it!

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
Well Kentucky skating was awesome. I wish you all would've come down. Michigan was represented quite well between Al, Derek, Jay, Tom, and myself. From what I remember, Jay took 5th in Hybrid, I took 6th in Hybrid, and I took 3rd in Giant. Fresh 84A Hot Spots ftw!
Anyone down on a Clarkston sesh soon? I'm out of town next weekend, but we're talking about hitting it 10/10 in the morning (Canucks gotta be back in Canada before 3) or maybe 10/11. I know Tom, Jon, and I are done with classes on MWF at 12, so if you wanna do a weekday sesh we could do that too. Let's get Gnarksty!

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
updates on the timer;
I have all the necessary parts! i spent hours researching how to build a cheap effective circuit for a prototype, and after looking through a dictionary sized catalog at fulton electronics, i got the necessary relays
the catch; since start and stop are the same button, the circuit im building essentially holds down the start/stop button if a tape is pressed, so that the second axle won't stop or restart the timer. I'm wiring in a "release" button, so someone has to press that while the rider is anywhere between the two strips, since i'm forced to wire them to the same button on the stopwatch for now. if a stopwatch can be found with seperate start and stop buttons, i can wire in sperate release curcuits for the strips that can be reset with the same reset button, so it wouldnt have to be released during the run.
alternately, i could wire an optional third tape strip in right after the start to release the relay, and place that right after (at least one board length after) the start strip. it doesnt matter if that gets pounded multiple times.
the good news is the parts were dirt cheap. Im wiring it to female rca jacks so that all tape switches are immediately replaceable in the event of a bad wire or sensor. the only thing I'm afraid of is that if a tape switch completely shorts out, the reset button may damage the circuit for that lane. net loss of 7 bucks to replace the relay in that event. if it's an issue, i'll design something else.
