Re: Michigan Longboarding!
the most getto slalom track timer ever built is complete. I tested it with the tape switch inputs and the emergency start/stop button. (no more yelling "HEY! hit the tape!" to the bottom of the hill). It's accurate to 0.01. Someone has to press a button to reset the tape switch circuit before and during your run, not a huge deal, I figure they can do that while/after seeing their time.
I built the thing for a whopping $35 bucks, not counting random suppiles like wire/solder etc. If my brain stops hurting, maybe i'll post the plans. It consists of three pushbuttons ($6ish), a double coil latching relay ($6), batteries (case for 4 AA's, 1.99), a stopwatch ($15), and rca inputs ($6ish?) for tape switches, which are easily individually replaced. DVD player cables can be hacked up for making extra sensors. thanks for the tapeswitches tom.
edit; i made use of the fancy relay by wiring in an LED that indicates the timer is ready for start or finish. this also ensures that all sensors hooked up are short free.

oh god, so fast
with spotters on the right 90 and on the sweeper at the bottom to make sure people know if they can swing wide or not we'll be pushing some crazy high speeds.
with enough people we should train race, 2 trains of 3 each? or turn it into 1 train of 6 too much gnar

Well if we do a 6 person train, i call dibs on front with the scorpion cam. So itll catch all the epic bails as we take the bottom turn.
