maybe if some things go smoothly this year, and we end up with good cones/ramps/timers/spots etc than something like this may be good for the following season. I definitely want to hear everyones thoughts on the matter.
I'm basically just looking for next year to be a test run, like you said. The term "sanctioning organization" sounds scary but its nothing more than a name and a point system. I guess I don't understand how this could be counterproductive. Its just gonna be a few slalom jams, 2 of the 4 following events that already exist, so we just have to toss down cones at the end. It's essentially 1 event with 4 different locations. In theory, we had a race the other day at jays house, and it worked fine. We have plenty of spots and its easy to find more.
It will be sponsored by Bees Knees, Go Green, etc.. but I think it might be more successful if the series has a name that encompasses everyone in the state. It'd be cool if Team Gnarkadark and others (hopefully new groups sprout up) wanted to get involved, help with decisions, etc...and I don't want it to seem like we're trying to take all the credit or shamelessly promote ourselves by slapping our name on something thats everyones. Sponsors will love it, and we'll get a ton of prizes for doing what we already do. I'm not looking to draw big crowds from out of state or anything. I want it to be a local, novice level type thing. I want to see the sport grow, or at least survive, and the only way to do it is to make it accessible to more people.
It's ten guys, fifty cones, and a timer strip. Everyone there to have fun. We can use solo cups and run them all single lane if we want. I know we're not the sharpest tools in the shed, but this is pretty simple.
Set up cones, chalk cones, tape down timer strips, record times, distribute prizes.

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
We haven't skated gnarly in a long time and it's made me sad, so I'm initiating some sessions.
UPCOMING SESSIONS/RACES:
Friday 10/24: Gnarkston for some speedboarding, Gnarkadark from slopestyle if we want to, and maybe even some hill hunting. I'm out of class at 10 and I'm free to go anytime after. Tell me what times you guys are free and we'll figure out rides. But seriously, I'm at the point where I'm thinking about just going myself I want to speedboard so bad.
Saturday 11/7-11/8: Ancaster Outlaw #1 suckas! So far Derek and I are officially signed up (it's still flexible), and I just told them to sign Jon up. The plan is we head down to Grosse Pointe Saturday morning sometime, I play my gig Saturday night while y'all play Hal or something, then we head to Ancaster at 8 AM. It's a 3 hour drive which will get us there around 11, and the race starts at 12 Noon. We shred, we claim Ancaster as American turf, then we come home to EL by 10 PM at the latest.
I have a feeling when it's cold we're gonna be sliding a lot more. I am convinced that you can slide more in the cold.

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
@ Pete. You will not be able to claim ancaster as your american turf. Dave and i will be there to make sure of it.
I skated the outlaw course a couple of times. It is pretty dope, and there will be a crash corner. The run is a serious leg burner. Its definitly 4+ minutes. They are thinking of cutting it down so as to not heat out the road too much.
I dont know what time you are planning on heading home, but we are thinking about making a huge valley session after the outlaw. The twins and everyone are down, and im sure more will come out. So hopefully you americans will come do some 75+KMPH pack skating with us! And maybe hit up some other local nasties, because there are alot of gems all over ancaster, and valley is only 15 minutes from the outlaw.
And maybe well come out to clarkston on the 24th. But its up to dave because hes driving and might be in the middle of exams.
