Re: Michigan Longboarding!
Anyone on here ride in the Petoskey area? I'm from Metro Detroit, go to school at NMU but will probably be living in Petoskey this summer and was wondering about places to ride around there

I'm in the Petoskey area, lived downtown for about 8 years, just bought a place about 20 minutes north, still work in town.
Lots of gnarly hills for sho. From ultra gnar (Depew road, could be fatal, literally) to super scenic mellow (cruise the bike path from East park to the waterfront, nice gentle downhill the whole way, couple miles).
For super twisty tech try some sections of 119 (do not try in July & August, to many tourists gawking, not paying attention)

Really? Thats sweet, I can't wait to hang out around town this summer and board. What are the laws about skateboarding and longboarding in town?

Hopefully, provided it's plowed nicely, we'll be getting back out here on Sunday.
I'm gonna have to guess that there's a ton of gnarly hills out there. Like, seriously gnarly. I wish I could join you out there. NW MI is rad. Where you from in Metro Detroit out of curiosity?
I'm from Madison Heights, right by Royal Oak and Troy.

Dang for real? You mean there's actually legit gnarly DH stuff you think? I'm looking to hit or break 60 this summer but tech stuff is always awesome too.

Right on I know exactly where that is. When it starts drying up again (friggin snow we just got!) we'll skate again. I want to go back to the spot in the video.

Re: Michigan Longboarding!
There are some steep ass runs up here, but don't think any are long enough to hit 60. Depew road is insanely steep (some folks won't even ride a bicycle down it) & ends in a heavily potholed T,
make that turn or you hit a wall of trees. I have no idea how fast in mph it can be. There are longer runs but they tend to have heavy traffic especially in the summer. Like 119 has some looong twisty runs but its also the famous "Tunnel of Trees" that people go out of their way to drive.
Early spring & late fall are when you want to be riding NW Michigan.
