We had looked at a house a block away from the top of Cherry. Someone beat us to it.

The rain has stopped for now. I think it's time to head out and check out some more hills.
ok...i think I know where that Is...I know cherry...I figure I'll just google it...sounds fun...one more to try when I get home!! now i hear that cherokee park in louisville has some really good hills. I can't verify this...but I do know that cherokee is all hills and has TONs of grassy areas...so bill...if you are looking for some places to check out of you make it out here...since you can offroad...i'd take a good look at cherokee park...and I plan on taking a day when I am home and looking threw the plethora of paved trails....although I also can't guarantee the condition of those...lol

Basically...no guarantees...but for your mountain boarding especially or even the street hybrids...it could be really sweet...because they have a lot of steep grassy hills and such throughout

...and the last run fall suuuuuucks...I hate doing that!! For me...my last run is my cocky show off run...carve harder...get noticed...drift the carves...lol And ever so often I bite it good and feel soo dumb for it afterwards...lol

I think there is camping down at Taylorsville Lake. This is outside Louisville.
Marengo Cave has camping. This is in Indiana.
Lots to do in the area besides skating. LOTS.

I'd be up for some riding and camping on a cool sunny October weekend.

agreed!! Whats the chance of picking a weekend early...picking a bunch of good spots to hit...and making it a silverfish event? The first ever event for southern indiana and KY?? Bringing the midwest out to ride? lol Personally sounds like a blast to me...but who knows if we could get something like that together...

First or second weekend of October before it gets too cold...

Always thought it would be great if there was some kind of board rally -- "swap rally." People would bring all kinds of street and off-road boards so people could try different rides that they have seen or heard of. I would love to try a BMW Streetcarver and give a Carveboard a go. Would like to see how some of these specialized longboard carvers/trucks ride too -- but I'm pretty much hooked on air tires.

All of this would probably be "overly ambitious." Who knows, stranger things have happened?

This thread sure got suddenly quiet.

Hey Blue,
How ya been? Nice to see you're still at it. Awesome.
I've seen you ride and think that there are quite a few boards out there that would fit your riding style. Super carvey, smooth pavement surfers. Your idea of a inter-discipline jam sounds fun. Mountain boards, freebords, longboards, oh my. Cool weather is always nice, I agree.

I like the idea of a board rally. It'd be rough to organize but would be fun to attend.

I found yet another good hill out by Barrel Shoot run. Barrel Shoot seemed a little more doable. There is a bad crack going across the road at the bottom. Major hang up situation. But what of the new run you ask?? That would be St John. Working off the map link for the Barrel Shoot run just follow N Skyline North until it ends. Then follow ST John to the right. It's a nice windy run down the hill. Should be very fast.

lol...ohio isn't out of the question I suppose...I have a bunch of family in Columbus, OH and I live in Louisville

SO, when I have to drive up to see the fam...I drive through three hours of pancake
I don't doubt there are some hills in your state somewhere. For example, I have an aunt up near wooster/smithville and wooster has some wicked hills if you find the right spot.

I just have never met a fellow boarder from ohio and have never found a decent hill outside wooster...lol

but hey, nice to meet you! Now I have a fellow boarder in ohio! lol...(my attitude towards OH is improving already!) Never meaning to diss your state man...just the drive through it...lol

I figure if michigan can have one...and if florida can have one...then we need to split the difference...and all the states inbetween have easy access to louisville! Board swap sounds really cool...never been to one...(I really need to spend a summer with my uncle in Cali to get an appreciation for these things) Hope we can get something going!

Today's ride sucked. Can you say "headwind"? I ran hills heading north. I ran hills heading south. Even east and west. Always a headwind. Any time I was heading down a hill I had a head wind. That sucks.
I did work on speed checks and stand up slides today. Those old Krypto Speed Cores have cured up a little harder with age and drift and slide real nice now.

So who wants to ride next weekend here in Louisville and surrounding area???

BobbyT -- Thanks...Howzit with you. I'm guessin that bionic knee is back to 100% and you're blowin peoples' doors off.

That Louisville slalom run was fun last June. But to really cut loose, I need about 100 yards of 15% grade.

You reminded me...one of those other boards I'd like to try is the Freeboard.

Gents:

I'm definitely game for an October convergence. Would love to attend our first annual Octoberfest Board Jam/Rally -- ridin, campin and talkin story around the fire...oh yeah.

Sniff is our resident even coordinator. I'd be happy to help in any way to organize a gathering. I'd come just to meet up with PUc and you boyz (again).

BTW...after many weeks in the hangar, I aired up the tires of my dirtsurfer this afternoon. Took it up for some off-road grassy hill free-flight this evening. It may not be a high-G carver. But that machine can fly, even with a 10 mph headwind. Would like to take it up for a run on those steep grassy hills you mentioned PUc.

I wish I hadn't sold my mountain board.

So I got in a car wreck today. I was on the way to the store to pick up some eggs and got hit in the passenger door. No one hurt but the door won't open. That sucked. My year for bad things to happen I guess. There goes another deductible. $$$

I wonder if I could run my offroad dirt wheels on one of my drop boards????

The car wreck is a serious downer. Glad nobody got hurt. Deductible? Doesn't the other driver have to pay?

Who knows...dirt wheels on a drop deck might be the next off-road rage.

It all depends on who is at fault. If it's your fault, you pay the deductable. Their fault, you pay nothing. Kinda hafta have a police report though to verify who's at fault.

Dude told the cop it was his fault. He told him that his foot slipped off the brake and he couldn't stop for the light and hit me. He just up and told the cop this right off the bat as soon as he pulled up. I hope it goes easy. They will have to replace the door on my truck. I have yet to own a car that someone hasn't run into it.

Dude...that really sucks!! Headwind and car wreck in one day...ouch
Up here has been a crazy weekend...idk if any of you went to IU or purdue...but we have races every year...IU-little 500 and purdue=grand prix week. Well, this is grand prix week and everyone here has been shitfaced for a week straight...lol (but unfortunately I have to take finals a week early...thus...am not partaking...lol) sigh

Yeah...those hills should be sweet mainly because there are a ton of them! And I actually got a chance to try the freeboard last weekend! Its preeeeeeetty trippy. Its nothing like longboarding at all!! Its soo incredibly similar to snowboarding its scary!! You always have to be on an edge...all the way down the hill...its really cool!

Again...if I was home...lol
And headwind sucks!! I do honestly hate it...we get an unbelievable amount of wind up here at purdue...everything is soo much flatter than southern IN that we get these days with constant 20mph...that is never a tail wind!! (But ever so often we get amazing tailwind on our big hills...and it makes the familiar stuff scary fast!!! soooooo fun!)

Well gents...I'm off to bed... 2:30am here! Later

Me and Bobby skated today. A little slalom and scoping out the Southern IN hills. He got stoked on a few of them. They opened Spring Hill this week and fixed the end of Old Vinneces. So we start hitting them Derby weekend.

6:00 pm -- No Masonic meeting, 17%, 19 mph tailwind assist, empty parking lot at the bottom…Sweet!

Downside, I had to sweep wood chips and pick up twigs for an hour (tree clean-up crew debris) on the upper 60 yards this morning.

…it was all worthwhile.
