Alright. Slalom session Sunday. I'm setting up over in the Okalona/Hillview area just south of the Gene Snyder. Give me a holler if you are down to run some cones.

Great session today. They paved my slalom hill this week! Nice virgin asphalt makes for fast buttery smooth riding conditions. Oh yeah!

Hi, I live in Lexington. Is there any DH to be found in our area? I'm talking competitions, clubs, or just gatherings of any sort? I am really wanting to get more into DH, but it's kinda hard to do by yourself. Thanks in advance...Andrew.

I understand the doing it by yourself. There is a growing dh scene going on up in Cinci. They just had a dh race a few weeks ago. Watch for the Cinci area thread for details and events. I have some good runs over here in Louisville. Most of the good ones I haven't even done yet because I can't get anyone to go with me. There is also a group of guys over in the Ashland, KY/Hunington, WV area. Those guys are mostly slalom but they do the downhill as well.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to check out the Cinci scene. I have been wanting to go to a race, even just to watch and see if it is something that I could get into. Keep in touch!

You never mentioned your local pipe Sniff.

I had to hear about it from another SF poster. I'm hurt.

The fullpipe? I thought everyone knew about that. Is that the one you are talking about? At the skate park?

Well it's noon and the roads are still wet and it's all cold and damp outside. That kills most of my skating plans today. The rest of those plans are still up in the air. The roads just need to dry already.

Never had any idea something like this existed in KY.
Don't know that I have the balls, but I've always wanted to try something like that. Looks like we're talkin' 4X OH (overhead) curl, a 24-ft Pipe:

Yeah. That's the place. I was hoping to head over there today if it would ever dry up outside.

    Is there an admittance charge?

Been sunny and 51 here in west KY. Got a 3:00 pm session in today.

Looking like sunny and 60s for Saturday. Oh yeah!

When things warm up I plan on making a Pilgrimage to see that pipe at very least.

It's a free park. 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year. It's right off of I-65 right before you cross the river.

I will be relocating to Louisville in the spring, about 1 1/2 months. I have been riding the Lawrence/KC area for 3 years now and started in Reno, NV back in 03-04. I need a new crew/flag to ride under and was hoping somone from here could show me around to the spots. I like mountains and parking garages, preferably ones with elevators

Let me know when you get to town and we can go skate. I'm mostly riding the hills and running slalom but I'm always looking for someone to skate with. We got some good hills to ride. I only know a couple other guys that ride but I know that there are more here in Louisville that don't frequent silverfish.

Sounds good I will be there sometime in April. I am a downhill rider myself but am decent at all disciplines espicallly sliding. I have riden slalom only twice before but thoroughly enjoyed it.

You messed up now. You'll be running cones before you know it.

My sliding sucks. The old knees don't like it. So I just run cones and go fast and carve the hills. Sometimes hit the skate park. There are plenty of garages but I haven't skated a single one since I moved here. I am a cop magnet when it comes to garages. All the best looking ones are hospital garages too. Always busy. I do have some downhill runs I'm dying to try that but haven't just because I haven't had anyone to run them with.

There are a few guys that skate in Cherokee Park in the mornings on the weekend but I'm never up at that time to meet them. I assume they are still riding there when the weather is good. Mostly the skate scene here is all about the park and street. I skate with more guys over in Cincinnati than I do here in Louisville. Great dh scene growing in Cinci.

I've got a nice 30-35 mph hill I like to skate and a great slalom hill. I think both are pictured in this thread at somewhere. The slalom hill is freshly paved.

Hopefully it will stop snowing by time April rolls around.
Sounds like you will be here in time for Derby. You poor soul.

IF there is no rain this weekend I'll be running cones if anyone wants to join it. If it doesn't rain.

I got a little skating in. My main hill is covered in crap thanks to all the illegal dumping but I still found a section to set up cones and skate. My downhill run was being used for a road bike race and thus closed. I did find two new spots for slalom but they will not be around for long. It's a new road and when they finally open it it's done as a slalom spot. It will still be okay for a little free ride carving. Anyway I got to skate in the morning and by late afternoon the rain made just enough of a showing to halt all skating. It was a good day anyway.
