what's up guys? i'm new to longboarding (and skating). been riding about a month when the weather allows, mostly around morehead, KY. one of my friends got me into it riding his spare board, took me out a few times and then turned me loose on one of the big mountains. i'm pretty sure i permanently destroyed my shoulded in the spill i took, but i loved every second of it, so i went out and bought myself a board.
i live in clarksville and i'm looking for some "mellow" hills to ride until i get comfortable enough on the board to try the real downhill again. if anyone has any suggestions, i'd appreciate it.
i'm also handy with a broom if you guys get around to that sweeping party you were talking about.

So I got my chance to go out and skate today. Sorry I had no time to notify you guys but when the chance came up I had to jump on it.
I skated my new little hill today. Landscape construction continued this week and the debris on the road was worse. Lots of hay and dirt clods now. Not as sandy though. I think I'll try and do an outlaw intro to slalom race on that hill this spring. Nothing to fear. Should be fun. Skate what you brung sort of deal.

So far we have some older skaters and some beginers chiming in on this thread. There are a few others in the area that haven't chimed in yet. I was courious to hear the kind of skating some of you guys want or like to do. Soon it'll be time for skating and for some of us to meet up. I'm still fairly new to the area kind of so some of you guys may have better insights to good spots to skate. I however am always on the prowl.

Do you guys have a skate shop here in the area that you like? I stop by a couple every now and again. They don't really have much of what I want but maybe if enuff people go in and inquire they might start to cater to our needs. Sometimes I go to Home and they are super nice to me. Other times I go in and I get treated like some kook or something. I like Pro Quality Skates but half the time they are closed when I go by. Axis had the feel of the kind of skate shops I always liked. I should run by there again sometime. I never went into the other shop by the skatepark. I guess I should.

Here is a link to a very old thread with pics of some of my boards.
The Sniffleless Collection

My favorite board is my Landyachtz Mummy. I skate that board everywhere. Haven't found a set up that doesn't work on that board. I even skated it with some Ventures and liked it.

I've got a homemade pintail I built. Need to get that out more. I've got an old Grosso Black Label board for the park plus a cool cardboard foamcore protype a friend made. I also have a few slalom boards.

This weekend may be okay.
Who wants to skate?
Start off at Iroquois and if we want go from there?

What has happened to Ky Boy? I haven't heard from him in awhile.

I'm thinking about getting rid of the Dreggs. I never skate it. Great board. It was my main downhill board when I lived in Alabama. I was planning on bringing the Dreggs. I've been tinkering with the set up on it.

For the weekend ride, I think I could do either saturday or sunday afternoon. Saturday is suposed to be warmer. WhatARush might be able to give better directions than me. We usually meet at the parking lot up from the golf course on the north side. It's a small parking lot where the one road goes up the hill. They tend to close that road during the winter months. It's a good long ride. Not to fast but goes forever.

1ish on saturday works for me.
Although if the weather gets all icey and snowy tonight and friday we may wish to postpone until sunday to give it time to melt. Latest forcast is for highs around 50's both days.
You guys pick a day and I'm there.

Not a coffee drinker myself. Thanks for the offer.

No Taurine for me please. Just give me a Mountain Dew or some such soda and I'm good. Wish I could get SunDrop around here.

Let's just shoot for Saturday around 1pm. That should be easiest for all.
Being a city park they do require helmets but I have never seen it enforced. Just so you know.

Can't wait.
