Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Sure Bobby T. Your invited anytime we go. I try to keep any planned sessions posted here. Right now my focus is on the slalom but longboard session is never out of the question either.
ANYONE that wants to try slalom are all welcomed to come out and try. I bring an extra board or two along just incase anyone wants to try.

That's perfect. That's exactly what I'm wanting to concentrate on, but always ready for some bombing. Trying to practice slalom alone gets old fast. Looking forward to hooking up. If you know anybody up here that's into it, feel free to send them my way. By the way, have you ever tried freeboarding. If not, you're in for for something outrageous. When we get together, I'll bring mine. Not trying to change your focus (because I'm into the slalom stuff as well), just turn you on to something really cool. Just like snowboarding the streets! By the way, I'm having knee surgery on tuesday, but it should be no biggy. Just a meniscus deal and a little joint cleanout(from years of this kinda stuff). I don't plan on being out of commish very long so stay in touch. Thanks bro', Bobby T

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
I've got a few races coming up in May. Got to get back in the groove and get my boards dialed in before I hit the start ramp.
Bobby, keep watching here and I'll let you know when we go. This weekend is out but next could work if the weather is good. Just let me know when your knee is healed up and ready to go. Any sunday you want to ride let me know. I've got a good hill and it should be hard to find even for an out of towner.
The Kentucky Fried Cone Fest is coming up in September in Ashland, KY. Good slalom race. You should give that some thought, Bobby. You might as well go all in, right? .......it's pretty mellow really. Real fun. Great guys.

Of course I'm all in Sniff! Hey, when you say that you have a couple of races coming up, does that mean you are travelling to some races or that you are putting some together?
-
Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Travelling. I'll be racing in Jackson, MS first weekend of May and then again last Memorial Day weekend in St Louis. I'll also be racing at the contest in Ashland, KY. I'm going to try and hit up a few more if gas prices don't kill me first.
I am kicking around the idea of putting on an outlaw slalom contest here in Louisville. If that goes well I may try and do somemore. So keep watching here for any info on that.

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Found a couple short but possibly good downhill runs in some new subdivions over in Middletown. Fancy homes. Bust factor could be high. You do have a nice two-fer hill tho. Two different runs that run into each other. One side is curvy and the other is straight. Needs to be swept of some rocks. They are still building and working on houses but for the most part that section is complete with homes. When I have time and it's not raining I'm going to go hit that combo hill.
I stopped by Home on saturday. I asked if they could get in any Bennett trucks. The first guy had never heard of Bennetts. The other guy behind the counter checked with their suppliers. They can't get Bennetts. They DO have a nice Gravity Carve 46 in there that someone should pick up. That is a great board.
Mission to all Louisville longboarders: Go to all the local skate shops and ask about longboard gear. Maybe if we show there is a market they will cater to it. They won't order the stuff if they don't think they can sell it. You are finding the odd pintail and old school park boards in there now. Now we need them to get some good trucks and wheels to go with them. So go bug them! Tell them sniffleless sent ya.

I've got some Bennett Vectors of various sizes and a Skennett or two. Haven't thought about letting go of them go of them......what do you need?
Which Middletown are you talking about--Ky or Oh?
Knee surgery tomorrow Aaaaaahh!!

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Middletown, KY. It's on the east side of Louisville.
I was just looking for the new 6.0's. Mostly just fishing for longboarding gear in general. Everything here is pretty much all about street skating. Nothing wrong with street skating but I'd like to see some of the skaters see a broader veiw of skateboarding. Also I perfer to support my local skateshops over ordering online. I just have to get them to carry things I'll actually buy. Know what I mean?
Good luck on the knee surgery.

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Weather, weather, weather. It seems like it's all about the weather anymore. Well that and gas. So I'm trying to get some skating in this weekend if the weather will allow. Saturday looks to be out. So I have to pin my hopes onto Sunday. Cones, downhill and maybe the park. I should be so lucky.

Surgery went well. 20% of my meniscus was torn off and just floating around in there. So they removed that and repaired the rest. Should be a pretty speedy recovery. I'm giving it 110% at rehab and lots of ice. That, combined with the metabalism of a jackrabbit, should put me in good shape before too long. Looking forward to getting out and hope you have a great time on Sunday. Peace, Bobby

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Don't your worry. I'll have a good time and I'll skate one for ya too.
Looks like an evening session on friday. Hope to get one in on sunday. I'm getting the urge to skate more stuff again.
Mend quick but don't be in too big a hurry and do further damage to yourself there, bobby.
Addendum: Friday session didn't go as planned. 'Rush bailed on me. I did a solo slalom session and walked the slalom hill eyeing out a new course. I hope to actually lay it out and try it on Sunday. Today was the first time on my new HotSpots. So far I like them. i knew that i would.
Hope everyone enjoyed the earthquake!

Hope Sunday pans out for you.....temp is perfect.
Hey Sniff. What kind of different slalom settups are you running? I've been putting some gear together in my down time. After all these years away from it, I'm anxious to get back at it!! Got some pretty nice settups but still need some other stuff to round it out. Got a Roe GS/Hybrid settup, but still shy a TS deck. Any recomendations?
Also, what are you running for DH?

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Here is my slalom quiver as it is right now:
E-series PPS Smokestack with Skennetts and an Airflow. TS
PPS Chicken LTD with Indy up front and RTS in rear. HS and GS
Fullbag Red Baron with Bennett up front and RTS in back. HS
My downhill boards are a bit meager right now.
Comet Voodoo with Randall RII. This has become my main downhill ride. Good with corners and more tech rides.
For straight bombing and rides with gentle turns I use my Dreggs Alpine with Randal RII.
Since moving from Alabama I haven't had a need for anymore that that. Isn't that a shame?
I have been looking into getting a better TS board myself. I currently like the AXE Lynn Kramer or either the Fullbag TS or Junk in the Trunk. All are hard wood decks with concave and a kicked rear. Although I am getting a custom built for me to try out from DSBoardSports. Google that name. Brian builds some neat stuff. His site isn't complete but you can see soem of his recent stuff he's working on.

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Hoping to get some riding in today (sunday). I have quite a bit of gardening and house work to do. After that I hope to ride before I have to come back and fix supper. bbq chicken on the grill with grilled asparagus and other tasty veggies. Definitely slalom and maybe some cruising/carving some little hills. Not sure I'll have the time or gas to fit the park or some of the new hills I've spied over the past couple weekends. I also need to stop by a few skateshops. I'm in the market for some new elbow pads and a helmet.
The Sunday Report:
So I got in some cone time today. Set up a new course. Very fun and a good challenge. This is going to be the contest course I think.
After that I went by Home skateshop and bought a new helmet and some elbow pads. I talked up the slalom a bit and showed off my board. Trying to spread the stoke and build up some interest. My new helmet is cone orange. That was the lightest color they had. Should be cooler than my old black one.

Can't wait to run some cones with ya. Hope I don't suck too bad! It's cool that you have an idea of what the course will be.
Also glad you got some new gear you like.
I'm still not sure what my TS board will be but kinda thinkin Fullbag as well. I think the Kramer chick-stick is a viable way to go too. Or maybe a Pavel. Or a Roe. Who knows.Let's just get to that "being able to walk" stage again first!!
Speeking of which, the knee is coming around nicely. Still really swollen and sore but it's a process and I'm happy with the way it's going.
If you know of anyone wanting to unload any primo slalom gear{G.O.G.,Radikal,Splitfire,etc.) let me know. I've been scoping the ISSA gear forum, but nothing yet.
O.K. bro', Make it a great one. Talk to you soon, Bobby

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Don't know anyone personally trying to unload any gear. Just keep watching over at slalomskater.com. You have to be on it quick tho. The good stuff sells fast and usually not cheap.

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Today prep construction started for a house to be built in the subdivision where my slalom hill can be found. This could be a problem. As of right now, I'm still skating it. I'll skate it until I can't.

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Drag about the new house. At least construction is down and there are alot of new subdivisions with nothing going on.
The knee is getting better fast. Should be skating real soon. I'm not going to press to hard, but I've got the itch.
Have you seen the Roe CK30? I'm leaning that way.
We'll see.

Re: Louisville Slalom and Downhill KY
Those Roes are nice. Price and availability always kept me away.
I was riding tight yesterday. I need a new TS board. If the board I'm getting from Brian doesn't work out I'm going for the Junk in the Trunk or the Lyn Kramer. Either way you can't go wrong.
I set up 25 cones spaced 5 feet apart on the fastest section of my hill. A couple pushes and those cones just flew by. I think I only cleaned it once. Great reaction time practice. I kept clipping cones with my front heel. I hit two just about every run. Not the same two tho. I hate to lose this hill. It's so nice and so so close to the house. I'm going to use and abuse this hill til they tell me I can't.
hopefully all this time running cones on it will pay off for my racing this year. I'm sporting better rigs and running harder courses on a regular basis. Really trying to push my limits. Faster, cleaner, better. That's the moto for 2008.
