naw......... no slalom, I like to snow board so carving paved hills is what i'm into on a sk8board.
Other wise I carve corners on this bike.
Heres a link to some demo races at Mid-Ohio sports car coarse last summer MidOhioBikes As you can see we are on a smaller track than the blisteringly wicked superbikes........... #707 is me.......

Re: 08 Michigan
hey you guys know where to get leathers in michigan? i've looked through 3 months of craigslist from the UP and from grand rapids, and i have only found 1 set of leathers thus far
Ergos are designed for that superbike crouch while racing at speeds upto 180mph........
You can get custom suits..........
Alpine Star is sweet........ google them up........
I doubt you'll find much in any motorcyle shop due to it being such a personal ego buy. You know the right colors, will my friends like it.......... does it look pimp.........
I wear a 2 piece zip together suit most of the time racing, MotoPort I have the GP2 Pants and GP2 Jacket. I also wear some other stuff....... depends on what sport i'm performing in at the time, and temps. You get some killer Supermoto jackets and pants full of body armour.........

i was kinda hoping to not spend more than 2-300 on a set. i've seen some nice websiteswith inexpensive leathers. but i know some people in the motorcycle business...might have to get in touch with them

topgearleather.com is the cheapest site i've found.
and in regards to johnson park... when I'm in GR, its either that or john ball zoo, and JBZ is significantly faster and has a gate at the bottom (rather than a turn followed by a nice run-out like at johnson park.)

I would be very skeptical of a Motorcycle "racing suit" that does not have any CE certification.
I think all of the people I race with or know that race all wear suits from Technik, Alpinestar, Dianese, JoeRocket, etc.... Most of the stuff we wear cost at least $650 new.
I've seen "some" of those $250 suits................. very bogus quality................ black market imported junk...........
I don't really agree Teddy. I and many others I know sport thrift shop/second hand/blackmarket suits. I have taken many a fall in said suits and they have saved my skin.
That beign said, I'm stoked to see so many riders in Michigan. I"m in Toronto and it's not a far drive. I would love to check out some of the hills you guys have down there.
I like to support my local economy, and I like to support manufactures that make quality products.
If all you can afford is a $250 protective suit thats understandable. If you really want to protect your body how much is "enough"?
Your human body only has about $14 worth or materials/elements, but once it is assembled, it is priceless Well mine is priceless to me and my family so I am just advocating the best protection you can afford to buy.
As far as hills go your better off driving down into western NY. south of Buffalo for some serious hills
I hope to be making a mission out that way at least once this summer..........

Re: 08 Michigan
grand valley's campus itself is nice for pumping...i've been told the meadows has nice paved paths (and i've golfed there before...excellent paths). there's a couple secret spots southeast of there, if you skate with me, thcmachete, or ocian we can show you them. gogreen hits up johnson park once in a while, and downtown GR has some killer spots too. holland has a couple skateparks, modern skatepark is HUGE indoor at centerpoint mall, and there's other little parks all around the area.
i would like to skate grand valley itself, but a short drive from the campus there are decent hills in grand haven, and some good ones in grand rapids also. i'm skating everyday in grand haven and surrounding areas when there is no snow.
anyone else ever skate the entrance behind the John Ball Zoo? I've had a lot of random locals tell me "nobody ever skates that hill", and the only people I know of who have ridden it are part of the Go Green crew. I know theres got to be someone else who has ridden this bad ass hill.
i was there skating last year when a guy came out and installed a camera up top. according to him two rollerbladers, one of which is an ambulance driver, got critically injured when they failed to successfully skate down the hill. he let me know that if you stop walking up before the last sign on the right hand side, right before the hill levels out, you're invisible to the city. of course given the main road and sometimes closed gate at the bottom, he didn't tell us this till he saw us sliding.
hey look, a john ball zoo video. rap music warning.

I'm going to start looking for places to have a hybrid race and a sliding event.
I want this to be a big event where people from other states will come out to compete. Help me find places, let's get something in the works for the spring time.

if you want to plan something like that it better be for next spring, or this fall at the earliest. Racers need at least 6-12 months to plan to attend an out of state race. It takes a long time to secure sponsors, timing equipment, road closure permit, and thats scratching the surface. Whenever i get the idea to plan something that big, i hit the word budget and get a headache, then realize how many other dedicated people I'd need to get something like that to go off properly. I'm going to go to a lot more races before I try to hold one, and besides, everyone has better pavement than us anyway
on the other hand, i'll probably throw a couple outlaw jams this summer/fall, of course you'll be of the first to know. if you do throw an event you know Go Green will be there.
