3rd annual. Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Downhill. I just got it up on the ISSA calendar today. I'm about halfway through the sanctioning form. I'll get it up on the NCDSA forum tomorrow.

The Madison NBC affiliate (WMTV) is also interested, but has not made a committment yet.

We'll make you a star ... locally.

Last year we did the DH outlaw with no road closure permits because there is no need to set out cones or timers. Ran 4-man heats with the fastest 2 advancing to the next round. The hill was prolly only a 25mph hill with one 90* bend. But it has a nice long uphill runout and it was easy to keep track of approaching traffic. A lot of advantages to that - even though it was a smaller, less technical hill.

I'd like to do the DH on a different road this year. Longer. Steeper. Starts out with a gentle S-bend followed by a hard left (T-intersection = make the turn or perish), then goes downhill for another couple blocks ... and ends at another T-intersection.

On the new hill we'd have to have spotters at several locations with radios to give the all-clear signal. And even at that, by the time you get to the bottom half of the course, the traffic situation could have changed.

The other option is to go forward with the road closure permits. But that requires me to get approval signatures form 75% of the homes along the route. And that would be a butt-load of homes. It's a big effort to get all the signatures for the road closure permits for the slalom and giant slalom races ... One of the days last year I was walking around in the rain collecting signatures. I don't know if I have the time or energy to try and visit all the homes along the other hill.

maybe myself and a contingency from the brookfield mke area could come out time and gather signatures.

that is depending on how urgent they are... when does the closure permit need to finalized?

The road closure stuff needs to be done a 3 or 4 weeks ahead. Then once the city says OK, you have go back and officially notify everyone that the application was approved and that the road will be closed fron HH:MM on MM/DD. I'll send out the word when the time drasw near. I always have a tough time asking for help ... makes me feel like I'm lazy or something. But if y'all are offering it will make a better Wiggle War!

As far as accomodations at the Hotel Mangelsdorf go - we can sleep 8 guests inside in air-conditioned comfort on spare beds, couches, cots. More if you don't mind sleeping on the floor. 1st come, 1st served. I do believe Dave & Michael just staked their claims. My sister-in-law lives about 2 miles from my house, and she can put up a few people too. The only draw-back with her house is that she has 2 little dachsunds that yap-yap-yap 24 hrs a day.

If you are the kind of person that likes hotels with swimming pools, Sun Prairie has a few of those too.
