Whats up! Just picked up a new longboard, now i need to learn how and where to ride it. I'm an old schooler ordinarily skating small vert and bowls. Any regular hotspots on the east side where I can ride this thing other than local beer runs on the flat bumpy roads in Roseville.

Re: MI East sider new to longbarding
sweet dude, what kind of board did you get?
as far as sessions go, there's a strong silverfish contingent around ann arbor...there's a few of us over in GR area...GR/GH/holland. and there might be a bunch of longboarders in your area that aren't on SF...keep poking around your skateshop and meeting people
edit:
yeah, keep tabs on the 08 michigan thread...i'm subscribed to that thread, so i get an email whenever someone replies...helps me keep track of any longboarding going on

:o No, that was useless to me just tell me so I don't have to put that much effort into it.

Well, probably not anybody's board of choice, but i like it. I went with a 41x9.75 Z-Flex Jim Plumer. Yes, i looked at the Gravity BE40, Sector 9's, and others. However, there was something about this deck that just grabbed me. I think it was the crazy tail on it, concave, and wheel base. Seems to be best suited for what I'll mostly use it for.
Pretty flat around here, so a speedy downhill style deck was out of the question. This is more for having fun at the parks/bowls, hitting small/medium hills, and general cruising around. I'll be switching between Randal 180's w/ ABEC 11 Grippins or Indy 169's w/ Rainskates Tsunamis depending on where I'm riding. Might pick up a set of 215's if i get some extra cash.
This is a picture of the deck, however, i don't have the shown trucks and wheels.
Anyway, enjoy reading the SF posts and hope to skate with everybody sometime soon.
It's great to see a new east sider skating! I'm over in Grosse Pointe.
Sweet. 10 minutes down the road from me. Do you skate anything other than longboards? Bill Danforth is in your neck of the woods as well. I've skated the 9 bowl a few times.
Do you guys ever skate with Greg Fadell? He's somewhere on this side of town.

Doesn't ring a bell really. And I don't do the shortboard thing, exclusively longboards.
