Default Michigan Races in the Tri City Area

I had moments with the infamous motor city madman Greg Fadell at the Morrow Bay Nationals last week.

He was stoked to hear I was a local Michigander for many years and still had a bro in Bay City that I visit often.

So we kicked around the idea of promoting a downhill racing contest sometime in early September.

You midwesterners hip for a race then?

Let's do it!

it would probably have to be outlaw on such short notice, but i'm down given at least a few weeks notice for the exact date.

I'm game. I've been looking for events near Toledo since I got my board a year ago, in San Diego actually.

Yea, it is somewhat a short notice and it appears we could at least pull off a small race. Remember, we're just trying to pull off starter stuff...

Fadell is racing HOOD. When he's done, we'll be able to team up to pull something up. September is not a bad time to get something going. My bro in Bay City works for Dow Chem in Midland. He has mad hookups for all kinds of stuff out there.

Stay tuned

We'll pick out a date once we have a date solidified but it will be definitely in early Sept.

Derby Downs in Saginaw is the first place we want. But everything from the Thumb area and Saginaw, Bay City and Midland would be a good central area for all of Lower Michigan. If it goes well, we'll plan more for spring and summer 09

I love Michigan. I have roots there and many friends from Grand Rapids to Gaylord to Frankenmouth.

That would be great, would love to attend. I looked at Derby downs a bit and looks like a straight away, are you thinking slalom?

And I'm sure Fadell could bring out some sweet riders like Bara, and the rest of his ''outlaw'' slalom crew.

there will be discussion this week in general about gatherings.

firing up the longboard and racing stoke in michigan is on the rise!

we're thinking early september.... it's getting close and it's dependent on me being in michigan around the week of sept 13th. if anything we can make it an outlaw race. there are places in midland and a place called apple mountain that might be cool.

if not, then we're getting close to crazy midwest weather and may have to look towards spring.

the main thing is to get that nice man made hill that is wasted with soap box derby races and turn it into a 21st century attraction.

this looks like a good place ?

Saginaw Derby Downs.

Trying to locate the exact area but in the mid 70's I pulled off a contest here.

I'm sure we could do something here

keep finding nuggets in google regarding the area. it's used for nationals but you know, they need to share that public area!
