Re: Chicago Longboard Society
There are two types of slide hills for me, one smaller gradual decline for the standups and smaller hands down schtuff and the monsters that are almost hands down exclusive (for now...) and will letcha push out 1080 rotations fairly easily, but we'd be down to do a little slide clinic in Lemont for anyone interested once the weather starts cooperating.
Standup Hill:
backside standing 360
Tower Rd. off 39th St. in Downer's Grove.
Monster Hill:
heelside pendy to 360 fail
Schultz St. in Lemont.
We've got better footy, but I've been expressly forbidden to post anything golden 'fore the new vids are released =/
8ftbed,
Hands down falls aren't really all that bad unless you're skating on cheesegrater asphalt, just get a helmet, a well padded set of gloves (I'm all about the scaphoid cushion in the Loaded gloves, even tho they're a little cumbersome compared to homebrews or the Landyachtz gloves), some 187 pro kneepads and some decent elbow pads and after that you should be golden.
Standups 360s are a trip, tho, any darkside errors and they will send you on your elbows or your face real real hard, so be careful and be sure to wear all the pads--especially at first.

cool!
This weather Can't decided if it wants to be Sep rainy/cool or Apr rainy/cool. Got hammered again last night. When it gives us a break and somebody has something going on, I'll come. Even if just to watch and take pics.

Re: Chicago Longboard Society
wouldnt it be difficult to get a neighborhood street closed down? because you will need permission from all the people that live there, along with the city? i really like the way that second hill looks, looks like it has decent pavement too...
and @ 8ft, standup falls are definately wayy worse than just normal sliding with gloves and what not, i would recommend wearing all the safety stuff you can get your hands on either way, whether your learning or have been doing it for years, my kneepads have saved soo much of my skin, not as much as my elbow pads though

Re: Chicago Longboard Society
Has anyone ever skated Barrington Hills? I am still waiting on my first board, but I have been trying to think of good hills. I remembered this area of pretty trafficked roads that at one point we had trouble making it up some of the hills in the snow with a dually ford... I went so far as to message my EX's friend on facebook to find out where it was. I plan on taking a trip out there after i get my board.

Re: Chicago Longboard Society
Hi,
I'm new to the forum. This is great that I found this area. I live out by Dekalb. I am fairly new to riding myself. I ride a loaded dervish. Not to much to hit up around me. Have to go out towards St. Charles. Some are pretty good runs around out there. I would defenitly be down to ride with some of you guys. I work out in Hoffman estates, and Shaumburg. So I am close to you guys out in woodstock, and I always keep my board in my car with me.
