About
The MN Longboard Crew (MNLBC) is a non-profit group of friendly and passionate longboarders based in Minnesota that meet about once a week to ride around the twin cities. Membership is free to anyone and comes with exclusive deals from several online longboard retailers.
General Info: I've never heard anyone say anything bad about this hill. It's over a mile long and will definitely get your adrenaline pumping. If you haven't made it out here yet, you really should check it out. This will be our third meet at this hill (it's just that good). Disclaimer: Longboarding is a dangerous sport. As an MNLBC member and/or participant in MNLBC meets, you accept any and all responsibility for injuries and death arising out of your participation in any MNLBC meets or related activities.

How fast do you guys get going on those runs? I ask because I'm a kind of a newb still and my board is way to flexy for speeds. Also, did you get a mnlbc discount on your mosquito?
General Info: Some of us visited this garage last weekend and had a blast riding it. It's 8 stories and is plenty wide for easy and relaxed carving. Last Sunday we were able to park in the garage and get out for free. Hope to see you all there. Disclaimer: Longboarding is a dangerous sport. The Afton hill can definitely get fast. I don't remember for sure, but I think we measured upper 30s with a tracer car (can someone confirm?). I weight 135 and can make it down with my flex 1 Dervish if that helps any. If you can't make it on Saturday, check out the ramp on Sunday. It's definitely an easier ride.
No, there are currently no discounts with Insect. I've been waiting for my mosquito for over 2 months now so if you want to buy one, paying 200 bucks for a board is only half the battle

Cool. I have a dervish flex 2 and I'm 160. What trucks do you have on your dervish? Do you guys always go around the cities area? My friend in duluth knows of a run where you go down for an hour at a nice 30 mph. That st croix trail looks nice. Is it difficult riding in the parking garages? How fast do youu get going in those?
The ramp we're going to is very doable. if you ride really wide around, you can keep your speed extremely low. just make sure you can footbreak or slide at the end.

Sounds awsome. I'm in the process of moving and getting ready for school, so I won't be able to make it for at least a month. I'll try and get some friends to come with too. Btw I'm also thinking of getting a mosquito for my next board because my month old dervish is cracking. What made you go from a dervish to mosquito? Did you ride one?
After waiting for about a month for my mosquito, I caved, and bought the dervish to hold me over. I have no idea how the mosquito rides, but I'm just dying to get it.
If I were you, I'd contact loaded about getting a replacement board. Those things really shouldn't be cracking that early on.

that ramp is a blast, and there's many more like it around minneapolis! it's sweet because, if we wanted, we could park in one garage and then just ride from one to the next (getting kicked out as we go? lol!)
one note: i bit it right at the end of the night trying to slide to a stop in the aforementioned ramp, because i slid right on a patch of oil...the board broke free super nice, but then once i was off the oil patch, it hooked back up real abruptly and i flew off. altogether a really easy ride down tho. it was completely empty 'cept for our cars, and it's nice and wide to carve off speed. just be aware and you'll be fine.
The ramps were not bad at all, they were easy to carve and i can now say that i am proficient with my slides from that night! Super stoked to come out this saturday and hit up that afton run, everything i have heard about it has me giddy to hit this thing up. I will see if i can bring a GPS also as to try to see how fast that hill is, and my girl to help drag us all back up to the top if she will, she is good to me like that and would have no problem chaseing all of us with a car down a hill. lol
Hey guys, this has been suggested before and Burt reminded me again how good an idea this would be, so I added a page to the site where your real name and silverfish names are listed to make it easier to learn everyone's names and to keep track of who's who on the forum.
Please PM me your info and I'll add it to the list. Also, just a heads up, Burt has offered to host a BBQ at his place (has a pool too) after Saturday's meet, which is awesome. I'll send more information about it when I get it from Burt. See you all this weekend.
