    Default Sony MD Walkman

I couldn't wait around to get the Mini ipod, so I splurged and bought the latest Sony Mini Disc Walkman. Does anyone have one? This is the coolest gadget! Now I don't have to carry that big portable cd player around, and just play one cd. Now I can compile all of my fave songs onto the MP3 player. And stick it in my pocket while I skate in the park. It rocks!! Cool!!

yeah i got one a year or so ago. its awesome, is yours net MD? but the best thing was the size, its so compact, you could almost eat it... but that wont be good. how good is LP4 you can have like 4 or 5 cds onto one disc... im sure that its no 40GB but still i like the MD.

ohhh ladyK, your in for it. i bought my mini disc last year and loved it to death. till i found out about checkin / out quotas. heres the downlow. each mp3 now has the ability to be encoded with a "quota" every cd after 1999 or so has it on each track. so when you use the sonicstage software to add your music to your disc you lose a quota. standard is 3. if you only delete the music from your device and dont check-in, you lose quota. when you hit 0, no more downloading to the minidisc.

sony made this encoding so that people wouldnt transfer their mp3s via minidisc to other computers, there is a way around it, but you need the original sonicstage up to version 2.6

overall i do love it to pieces, but its a pain in the arse.

send me a PM, and ill tell ya how to get around, and or give you a copy of v.2.6 if u cant find it.

    cheers

daniel, mine is Net MD. It's the MD Walkman MZ-NF520D and it came with the TV/Weather/FM remote. That is sooo cool! Now I can get updates on the local weather for skating, and listen to the t.v. I'm not an electronic guru.. I just wanted to get something to put all my songs into one cd/player (An early Mother's Day gift to me). As long as I'm able to load up music on there and it plays.. then I'm satisfied. I was able to put about 30 or more songs on that mini disc last night (lost count), and I still have disc space available to put more songs on there. But do I really need to listen to that many songs? Not really. I love the compactness. Now I can also use this not for skating around but working out at the gym too. No more cd skipping either. And to turn it off you just unplug the earphones. The only cons I have to it is that it doesn't have a night light, no belt clip and no ear buds. I could do without the big ear phones. Bled, oops, it's not an mp3 player.. it's a mini disc. Basically recording music onto the mini disc. I got it at Walmart for like $80.00 or so. Not bad of a deal either. It must be really good because it was the last one on the shelf and all the others like RCA, isomething or other and some generic Chinese made ones were stocked full. Kevin, I don't have an MP3 player, I'm just going to load up music from my own cd's off of my pc. What exactly is this quota? Would I need to be worried?
