They were pretty huge about 9 - 10 years ago. Even had a hit with that Hell song.

I wish more bands that are a bit different and talented would be more popular. Because radio really sucks.

I play "Hell" every weekend - the horn section loves it!

Wish they were still around. Two of the members had a side project going at the time. I don't know the name but it was this sort of Appalacian music. Very good.

Also on the different music type front. The Decemberists are really good and different than alot of what's going on. They like to do little sea-shanties and songs about chimney sweeps and such. Very good and catchy. And Neutral Milk Hotel is another great different band from back a few years ago. Very good.

SNZ was probably one of the best bands to come out of that swing revival in the mid/late 90s. If you actually listened to their whole cd... most of their other stuff was NOTHING like that "Hell" song (which was a great song as well). Their other stuff was WAY more traditional, they even had that weird lookin chick sing alot of the songs. I think they did a song called "if it's good enough for grandpa, it's good enough for me" or something like that... hahah I got a kick outta that.

If you dig the vintage swing/ska scene... I STRONGLY suggest that EVERYONE here checks out a band called The Slackers. They're a contemporary band playing late 60s style Rock Steady and Calypso. Check out the song "Rude and Reckless" or You must be good". It will be worth your time, I promise.

snz are awesome. definantly a must hear for anyone who's into any swing revival. btw, the slackers are also awesome. they have some absolutely amazing songs that i never can get enough of, rude and reckless was the first song i hear by them, and one of the first ska songs that i heard that wasnt "punk rock with horns" 3rd wave stuff.
