Check out the Avett Brothers. Their newer stuff is a little more pop/rock-ish, but if you listen to the old stuff its some good bluegrass.

Whatever Yonder is, it is not bluegrass in my opinion. Some weird hippy jamgrass crap.

If you want some good ole fashion bluegrass try ralph stanley or the stanley brothers, bill monroe, earl scruggs and lester flats, sam bush, the del mccoury band.

One of the best newer bands has to be Old Crow Medicine Show. I also like white ghost shivers a lot - they're out of austin and aren't really bluegrass but they have a similar sound and put on a hell of a show.

do you have room in your heart for the five string banjo? it's not technically bluegrass but you may trip out to some bela fleck... Ricky Skaggs and kentucky thunder. Earl Scruggs is the rodney mullen of the banjo (save that twisted kid from deliverence). Just go to the SF bluegrass festi in october and it'll make your willy wet - it's free and the raddest thing that the public has ever had happen.

as for sergio, how can you not like bluegrass dude? it's about stompin' around in the mud in overalls and barefeet, drinkin', singing, loving, having a mighty fine time as a community, and soul. all the good present participles we know and enjoy...

Punk and ska more or less do that for me already. Anything much twangier than folk punk just doesn't hold my interest.

My wife prefers country music, the modern stuff. Then I hear a sound from the radio that isn't all Rascal Flats sounding, it sounds genuine and soulfull - of course, she hates it.

The artist is named Allison Krauss, and she sounds awesome (most of you already know her).

She is considered to have a Bluegrass sound, her voice sounds like she has something important to say, but you have to have a listeners ears to hear it (e.g. 'you can't hear Jimmy'). Kinda like that girl contestant (Danelle Hayes) on Idol the other night who auditioned with Melissa Ethridge's 'I'm the only One', the pain in her voice cut straight to my heart.

    Danelle Hayes ? I?m the Only One ? Audition Video : American Idol 9 ? Rickey.org
