He ruined that song, i'm sorry but his voice and his slight change in the guitar chords really killed it.

I like the Foo Fighters songs... But that made me loose a lot of respect for them.. He knows every word to it, but was making a mockery of a classic and a band that the Foo fighters will never rival

i thought it was hilarious, Dave Ghrol was obviously just having some fun with it. Plus, not many people have the balls to get up on national TV and scat the solo to Stairway. Good stuff.

It's not always about the words...

If he went up and played exactly the same thing Led Zeppelin played it would be pointless. He made it his own and changed things up a bit. It shouldn't be judged by how close it came to the original.

Sheesh, you guys should lighten up. Its pretty obvious that song was improvised and unplanned, he was just having fun with it. And the crowd really enjoyed it too. I have played that song hundreds of times, and still found myself trying to remember the chords and lyrics.

took me awhile to understand that.

im pretty sure Plant and Page know about this. if Bonham was still alive, him and Plant would chuckle over this (which im pretty sure Plant did). but Jimmy Page mustve been pretty furious how he was mocked by some punk lip singing his guitar solo.

Im so burnt out on that song.. its really overdone.. and.. im suprised that he's talented enough to do everything he does in Foo Fighters, but cant play stairway all that well.. which.. almost every damn kid that gets a guitar in middleskool seems to nail.

It's Foo Fighter doing Zep ala Tenacious D. Grohl is known for his joking nature and has done the same thing many times to many different artists. It's all in fun and supposed to inspire laughter. Lighten up. It is/was a kind of running joke on Craig Kilborn.
