    i recently have been listening to the song chief rocka by the lords of the underground (not sure if thats quite old school) but does anyone know anything that sounds similar?

    I was a fan of Public Enemy...Check out:

    I really liked them because I felt that Chuck D' was really saying something honest and from his heart...not just bragging about how cool and rich he was...

    i can't beleive it took so long for somebody to say NWA, in an old school rap thread.

    pick up Straight Outta Compton. awesome, awesome, awesome album. Dr Dre's The Chronic is sick, too. Pubic Enemy is tight, but flav gets a tad old. Chuck D knows where its at, though.

    Mos Def has a pretty old school sound. Feelin' experimental? Pick up his record The New Danger. i really dig it, although i've heard plenty of dissenting opinions. oh, yeah, and he was sick live - although seeing him was totally by accident.

    I can't tell you how happy I am to see this thread. I'm completely stoked on how many of my longboarding compatriots are also seasoned rap lovers. Call me a throwback but I can't live without it.
