So I pre-ordered the new Coldplay Cd and just downloaded it the other day
I finished the cd very dissapointed
way slow and too melodic even by Coldplay standards
its only saving grace was the albums self titled single, viva la vida, whose beat i found quite intoxicating
I heard a few of there songs on out of the box with paul shagrew they sounded decent. They are starting to sound a lot like The Walkmen though. Maybe its just the voice but it seems like they are changing their sound up to sound more indie than before.

I dunno, I am in love with the album right now. It's a sleeper though, and a lot more "artsy" sounding than some previous stuff... so the first listen or two is kind of strange. I like all the differences, they're moving towards new things as a band and I think it's working.
Uhm... have you even listened to this album? None of these songs sound like Clocks. Unless you're referring to the spacious dreamy sound they've adopted over the past two albums.
I dunno about forced, but then again, you have to look at their influences. If you listen to a lot of older U2 stuff, you can sort of see where some of this came from. Put together with their own little twist, though.
I agree about the dream sequence thing, lol.
Sorry if I sound like I'm trying to force you into liking it, I promise I am not, I know it's all personal preference. I just enjoy discussing it.
I'm going to go with the lame kid thing. I doubt Coldplay has ever even heard of said "Creaky Boards." Coincidences happen. It's insanely hard to make a song that doesn't sound like another one.
Want to hear a crazy rip-off? Listen to Linkin Park's "Papercut" and then listen to a song buy this guy who goes by the name of D-Nax called "Hollow." When you say that your biggest influences are the band (like D-Nax) and one of your songs is exactly like theirs, then I can imagine a problem. But if you haven't ever heard it, how is it a rip-off?
People caused a big thing over this with "Dani California" by RHCP. But it blew over. Let's see if he does something about it.
he was actually saying in the vid that the lead singer was in the crowd of one of his shows in the video. Or maybe I interpreted it wrong or something. RHCP has actually had one of their rifts ripped from the album "mothers milk" I think. At the end of the cd there is this song that is nothing but little chunks of random melodies and that Song "butterfly" by those one hit wonders totally copied it note for note and the sad thing is that they didn't even add anything at all to it they just kept replaying the piece that they jacked. I can't remember the name of the band. I do remember that they were so flaming of dooshiness that you could smell it on them.

the song Viva La Vida is an ear-gasm, but I'm not 100% sure about the rest of the album either. It doesn't sound bad, just sorta different like said before.

Interesting Fuzz, I'll have to watch it again. It would suck if they really did, because I very much enjoy this album.. though I must admit I am a "Violet Hill" fan before "Viva la Vida"
