After reading through that thread about how there isnt any new good music nowadays, i came across a post by Steve D, where he threw up some youtube videos, one of which was the song "The Sound Of Muzak" by Porcupine Tree. I really dug that song, so i went and did some research on more stuff by Porcupine Tree. I downloaded damn near all of their albums...and i'm really blown away. These guys are really good. They really remind me of Opeth sometimes. And i love me some Opeth. I watched an interview with one of the guys from the band and apparently hes good friends with Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth, so maybe he rubbed off on the Porcupine Tree guitarist, its clear he influenced them in some way. I cant stop playing their new album "Fear Of A Blank Planet"...amazing stuff. I feel like a douchebag for never hearing about these guys up until this point.
Thanks again Steve D, you turned me on to a great band!
So, any other Porcupine Tree fans out there? Favorite albums? Etc?
I dont really know, i havent had enough time to listen to all of them yet. I'm really digging "Fear Of A Blank Planet", specifically the 17 minute long marathon of goodness called "Anesthetize" is my favorite so far. I'll have to listen to them all before i can really say what my favorite is though.

argh.. i dont have Fear Of A Blank Planet yet. I'll have to listen to that album some time soon!
Sunn is like a prog-ey doom band that decided to stretch out each note a few measures. Several of my thumbs go up. Boris is another thing in existence.
