How many songs songs do you have and what is the mai genre.

i have 10859 songs, 71.7 days, and 72.47 gigabytes of music right now and the main source of this mass is jam bands. Jam bands are by far my favorite. 989 phish songs, 556 grateful dead, 514 disco biscuits, and many many more. Most of this is live stuff also.

But I'll chime in anyways! I'm at 35,157 songs at the moment. That's 102 days, and 250 gigs of music goodness. I don't think there's a main genre as such, but if I were to guess, I'd say it's more on the rock/metal side of things. Also, I'm rocking Winamp...because itunes is the devil.

I've never figured out how some of the genres get determined. I bought the Greg Leon Invasion's last album from iTunes, and it shows up as "Alternative". Considering Greg played in Quiet Riot, Dokken, Dio, and was a founding member of Motley Crue, and still sounds like a combination of all those...?

But the majority of my library would be metal, hard rock, or progressive...

I'll get there. I've at a grand under half right now. I'm a selective fu<k so it's hard for me, but obtaining more tunes has been my life's work for a little bit now. I don't download.

rock and jazz dominate heavily, but those blanket terms encompass anything from Acid Mothers Temple to Minor Threat, so that doesn't tell you much.

I will say that i have 985 Grateful Dead songs, and not a single show after 1979.

Same. My ancient ipod is only 10 gigs anyway, so I rotate what I want to hear.

And "collecting" music is seriously pointless nowadays. If I wanna hear something I download it, free, then delete it when I'm done. If its really good I might burn a disc for the car.

ONLY 10 gigs, Stinkfist? yeeesh.. untill my Zen Micro just decided to be bi-polar i delt with things 5 gigs at time.

i have 1538 files in 99 folders, amassing to a modest 6.42GB

i guess id have alot more if i ripped my crates upon crates of CDs and cassettes..

I could just as easily say that people with small music collections lack diversity and open mindedness.

I don't go by songs, I go by albums..
Now approaching 8,000 albums, in every genre
possible..If I broke this down into individual songs,
lets say an average of 12 songs per album,
that would be 96,000 something odd songs.
Plus at least 15 GB's of just random individual songs.
But i'm especially proud of my Jazz cxollection,
2,500+ albums of the greatst jazz of all time.
Next to that is my Jane's Addiction collection,
everything they did and all possible side projects, with
the lucious addition of over 200 soundboard bootlegs...
I have an absolutely insane mp3 library, it's mind boggling...
My wife and I have infinite choices of music, we no longer
listen to any form of radio.

the beauty of life is that everything is relative. that said, some peoples personalities produce a specific, honed 1,000 song collection while others produce a mass influenced conglomeration of 30,000 songs or more. however each collection possesses the same emotional value in the eyes of each respective curator of these collections.
