iTunes=evil?!!!

does iTunes just decide to dissapear for anyone else? i log onto my computer like once a month and its either gone or not working, i want to get windows but i dont want to take the time to move all my music, i have a back up so its not a big deal but its still an annoying pain in the ass

A couple times last year my iTunes decided to delete about half of my music... I think it happened three times. I eventually found most of them again hidden in my documents and what not, but I went from about 70GB of music last year down to about 45GB now.

It is an evil program.

it is impossible for a itunes to delete your music. Itunes simply plays it from where it is located on your computer.

Ive been using itunes for years and have never had one problem like you guys describe. Could it be because I use a mac?

My iTunes did something extra weird: it played music that I don't fully know where it came from nad could not actually find on my computer and after about a week it disappeared. That and the songs from two of my playlists that I did put on my computer.

Consolidate your library, you shouldn't have any more problems.

So what other programs you people use? Since I bought a new computer with Vista, iTunes deletes the library 1 out of 3 times I open it...I don't use it anymore but I don't know what else to use really...

All I wanna do izza Zune Zune....

I got my Zune a last year and absolutely love it - waaaayyyyyy more than the old Pod. And the software works nice to. Much more graphic and loads more options and abilities. And anyone that has a Pod that I've shown it to says "Hmmm - I wish I had looked at those..."

not when you buy your music on iTunes and itunes decides to remove itself (and files containing my music) from you computer

I don't see the draw of iTunes. There's the store, but I would never buy compressed music files with DRM over a CD. The rest is nothing that can't be done with other, not so bloated, programs.

As the toocoolforschool SL kids would say.. iTunes is Legit.. Damn all of you who abuses words you don't even know the meaning of.. And stop using Legit, teh and so on, I would punch you in the face if I could. Sorry for being a bit off-topic, but I had to get it out...

yeah itunes is kinda evil. it hasnt givin me alot of problems lately though. i made it my bitch. and a little tip, DONT EVER MOVE MUSIC FILES IN YOUR FOLDERS. itunes will bitch slap you.

talk about a shitty program, zune. hoof that #### sucks.

lol i agree with the last part, but i encountered a new problem today, iTunes decides that i can only download one cd, then it decides to freeze and not let me download any more till i restart my computer

People using a Windows based machine may want to take a hard look at which really sucks, iTunes or the PC.

I would agree that the combo together is horrid.

iTunes on a Mac is not bloated and works quite nice. Either way (Mac or PC), your music is stored separately from the iTunes program and it cannot just delete it. It may "lose" the path, but it is still on your computer.

iTunes music is no longer DRM as of a month ago.

the only thing i don't like about itunes is it's almost impossible to share music.... and all the files are encrypted so if you put them on a data CD you can't use them without getting it authorized... kinda lame
