blink 182 is awesome! are you kidding? and i'm not being sarcastic. they may seem juvenile and sold out, but as long as you don't take them very seriously they're enjoyable.
and all their spin off bands after they broke up sucked anyway. transplants was fucking terrible, angels and airwaves sounded like coldplay but a hundred times worse, and plus 44 was okay, but not anything special.

Wow, lots of 182 haters on here...

Sure they sold out a little... but that doesn't negate the fact that they were the best mainstream garage band ever. Hopefully they won't come back with a whiny yellowcard sound...

I would like to know what those of you that don't like Blink 182 listen to instead...

I guess if you have problems with mainstream music then Blink 182. But I try to look past the overcommercialization and just listen to the sound, and the sound is really good IMHO.

Those are all really good bands though toki, I can tell your into the indie side of punk, so I guess you wouldn't like Blink 182...

blink 182 and those aren't easily distinguished from each other as "real punk" as opposed to what, imaginary punk? it's just a different kind of style that's a little poppier. that doesn't make the music any less real.

i just think its bullshit that blink 182 is considerd "punk" when punk was more of an underground thing... thats just my opinion anyway

    Yes it does.

So called "Imaginary punk", or pop punk, panders to the will of the masses, focusing on the amount of people they can cram into their next venue, and not on individuality. Its the kind of concert you see douchebag fratboys wearing wife beaters, and drinking beer bongs out of their daddies' Escalades at. Sure it is fine if you want to be able to say "Hey bro, I went to a Puddle of Mudd concert last week and it was Ballin'! Want to go play flag football?!".

But if you are a more of a; for lack of a better word, refined listener, you won't put up with the mainstream side of music; You must go underground to find the type of music you like! Actual punk!

Its like comparing different types of weedheads. Sure you can go get some middies from Sketchy McParole on the street corner, then load it into a pen cap shoved into a water bottle. But what is the point of that? Sure if you want to tell all of your friends how cool you are at the next country club meeting. But, if you want to truly devote yourself to your favorite type of music; you get some high quality skag your friend grew in his computer case and load it into a RooR like you're Micheal Phelps.

ya its pretty easy to buy into a mainstream fad. its much harder to find a band you genuinley think is good and stick with their music no matter what
