    Default Riding Music

What kinds of music do you listen to while riding, if you do?

I find that riding music can sometimes obstruct my hearing, so when I'm carving in the streets, I'll usually keep it really quiet or not listen to it at all.

But when I'm sidewalk cruising, I'll usually put some Minus the Bear, Breathe Electric, or 2Pac on. Just some nice, relaxing music.

    How about you guys?

I only listen to music when I'm riding in a place like a parking lot. I like some break-beat electronic music or some indie rock or some reggae.

I have a 113 song playlist derived from about 10 gigabytes of music that I just listen to on shuffle. But when I'm in crowded areas, I turn it down.

Bedouin Soundclash, Jack Johnson, G. Love & Special Sauce, and the Grateful Dead are some of my favorites for cruising. Happy, calm, smooth. Some Marley mellows it out even more. :P I have 250 -something songs on my phone though, so whatever strikes me as fitting the mood at the moment.

if someone disses you for liking the beatles, then they are a ####### moron.

personally i get down on spoon when i ride
if you smacked a kid in the face with a bottle of Johnson's No More Tears, would it create beautiful irony?

spoonbill, michna, buju banton, electralane, aesop rock sometimes, animal collective, the list goes on, it all depends on my mood the weather, time of day. picking the proper music is a tricky think, alot of the time i simply go without and listen to nothing but my wheels humming on the pavement and the sounds of nature.

Does anyone listen to Animal Liberation Orchestra? They are perfect for riding, they are kind of indie but they have really funky keys (as in the style, not funky as in weird) and really deep lyrics. I could not picture a more perfect cruising band. I longboarded 30 miles one time and listened to these guys almost the whole time. I only switched after the playlist had fully played through twice. Then I switched it to Bag of Toys

I find music distracting, I don't like loud music when I'm driving either. People drive like absolute #### here so you have to be alert. I've almost been smoked so many times, its goddamn ridiculous.

Say it loud. I'm freaky styley and I'm proud....

At some point around 1989 I was listening to the Chili Peppers Freaky Styley album while skating and it's, forever since, been my favorite cruisin' album. To this day - even when I'm not plugged into my Zune - I hear this album in my head while skating.

i absolutely love rocking out to Daft Punk. Unfortunately i tend to get carried away ever now and then, which would explain my close friendship with the pavement.
