"Non Stereotypical" ride music?
Have you ever been cruising along and something came on your random play that sounded really good while riding, that you never would have expected to go good with riding?
I was ripping around the neib the other day and this 17 minute John Coltrane jam came on and it was great...Just really surprised me longboarding to Jazz was such a good match...

i kinda like this song called "The 15th" by Fischerspooner with Lizzy Yoder. it's got a good vibe. also "nothing but the sky" by Ivy is kinda nice.

Not in a bad way those are 3 of my all time favorite bans and love it when I'm riding. But I would expect to hear that's what people listen to when riding.
If you said your listen to Tito Puente, I would say "NoShiet? That's different"
BYI - Tito Puente is badass also
I'm not a huge jazz fan over all. I either love it or hate it and there is a lot I hate. I'm the same with Hip-Hop though...

Jazz is awesome, period.
Cruisin and pumpin to some funk is always good, too.
You'd also be surprised how fun it is to carve hills to some piano concertos or smooth classical music.
In general, though, I listen to electronic/techno, hard rock, or metal. Great for everything.

Re: "Non Steriotyplical" ride music?
The Whitest Boy Alive; good for cruising, like post modern Jazz but with a little techno pop thrown in.
You can't go wrong with old school. Unless it's 80's, then there's a chance things could get ugly.
I've got something like 40 gigs on the pod and it never really leaves shuffle unless someone else wants to find something specific.
Harry Conick Jr. has surprised me a few time while riding.
Beside the non-typical stuff I like rockin harder-core music.
UnderOath, nonpoint, avenged 7x, DEFTONES, Pennywise, Prodigy, Ra, Atmosphere.
If not hard-core, I like to relax. 311, Spoon, sublime, Rx Bandits, The Expendables, Built to Spill, Nightmares on Wax, Ohio Players, George Clinton, Parliament, Funkadelic. Pink Floyd, Air, The Pogues, The Pixies, Acoustic Syndicate, Medestki - Martin,- & - Wood.
Like I said, there's tons of stuff.
Side question. When you ride, where [specifically] do you keep your tunes device, and why that location?
No, "In my pocket, dumbass." responses please.

jazz is great for everything, fools.
also good is a racous blues jam, gospel, hard bop, freeform psycadelic, funk (a personal favorite), afrobeat, and various classical musics (indian, indoneisian, african tribal)...

Dave Brubeck and Django Reinhart are a couple of my favorites. Jazz is definitely great music for skating.
