Default Creative Zen X-fi or Cowon D2

Ok so my ipod #### itself a week ago and I'm looking for a replacement and these are the two i have narrowed it down to, Creative Zen X-fi and the Cowon D2 (both 16gb).

I was wondering if anyone on the 'fish had any experience with either of these.

I'm open to other suggestions. I thought about the ipod touch but the 16gb version is about $100 more than these two. I guess living on the other side of the world from every where else mean we have to pay more and have a smaller range, so i am kinda limited by this but suggestions are welcome.

My mp3 player just broke too, after a decent amount of research I decided to get the zen x-fi because it has some nice features and a 32gb version for 250 which isn't to bad, also I had an older model zen which was great. I also looked at the ipod touch but it was way to much money, also check out the Cowon S9 it looks really sweet and i might have decided on that instead but the biggest one holds 16gb which isn't enough for me.

Ive heard tons of great things about the D2 and I would definitely go for that. However, Cowon is coming out with the D2+ which is a refreshed version that fixes one of the only problems with it, the GUI. It also looks better and im sure there are other improvements. Also, invest in some headphones, seriously. No skullcandies, enjoy listening. If you need any other help, ask away, I have done tons of research in this field.

EDIT: Frankly, I have heard of many problems with the X-Fi, namely that it is not worth what you are paying and that the interface is rather clunky. This is accentuated by the fact that the expandable memory for the X-Fi does not integrate with your standard music, meaning that you would have to navigate to your card to find anything on it.

Either way, you are getting great sound quality, you will learn to appreciate it in time.

    Hope I could be helpful

    Thanks for all the help.

I'm currently leaning towards the D2. The only thing stopping me from getting it is the touch screen. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'm wondering how good it would work using your finger or thumb instead of the stylus? Mainly because it seems it might be difficult to use the stylus while doing something e.g skating.

I do not have any personal experience with it, however I know for a fact that you can use your finger/thumb instead of the stylus and it will handle fine. Happy hunting, enjoy your music.

Cool. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the Cowon.

Any suggestions on some good headphones that wont set me back too much.

Oh yes, of course. I wouldnt be a rookie audiophile without them. For starters, honestly do not bother with skullcandy headphones unless they are your only option, they just arent that good, even if they look good. I currently use Sennheiser CX300 inner ear phones which are very good for their price which is only something like 30 bucks or less. These are the exact same headphones as the Creative EP 630 earphones which are just rebranded, so these are also just as good. A word of warning, do not get any of these that are crazily underpriced as they are most likely ripoffs as in anything like 15 bucks. These earphones are some of the most commonly ripped off phones in the world sadly. Also, there is the V-Moda Vibe which is apparently widely enjoyed and wont set you back too much. Frankly, as long as you do a bit of research on whatever pair you consider, you will be just fine. Sorry if I couldnt help more, im not too into the common headphones, more the ginormous headsets. I actually own those in my avatar. Anyway, have fun, any more questions just ask
