For me, personally, I can narrow it down to one band -- the Sex Pistols. Sure, they might have been the safety pin version of The Monkees, but their second Manchester gig would spawn Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, the whole Madchester Scene, and tons of other bands I'm probably forgetting.
