this is all an elaborate, full fledged marketing ploy. still, genious how they created this massive hype that has taken over the internet and the media. people love the cinderella story. and I love a good ol' conspiracy theory.

mhm. her life is definitely better since her pursuit of being a professional singer is conditional on her being homely and being pitied. i'm sure you'd feel just as happy if the longboarding community gave you a medal for your DH skills on the condition that you were really, really ugly and never been kissed.

Can't let people know that a powerful voice doesn't have a model's body to back it up, so get somebody better looking to lip sync for the video.

Unfortunately, the music industry has become more about image than talent, and if you don't have the looks, you can't even get your foot in the door. For whatever reason, people associate looks with talent, especially for women...

Except that apparently everyone assumed when Boyle got up on stage that she wouldn't be able to sing, that she would be the female William Hung. People were visibly surprised that she actually had talent. Whereas if she had been a 10, how many people would've wondered beforehand if she could sing...?

But before hearing her for the first time, would you have assumed that she couldn't sing, based on how she looked?

people have bias against ugly people,
its human nature...

the music industry reflects this,
they know that ugly singers wont sell records...
especially now with videos been common...
i grew up in the 80's listening to radio only..
didn't know what many of the singers look like until vh1 came out with 'i love the 80's'
