    Default Surf Music

Yeah. Whenever I go cruising on my 46" surfboard style I will always have surf on.
The Ventures, Dick Dale, The Surfaris, The Trashmen, The Tornadoes, David Marks and the Marksmen. They're all great. Anyone else listen to this?

Dick Dale is my mutherfukin hero. He plays every year on or around my birthday and this will be the first year I'll be of age to go, thank god he didn't quit touring or worse. Im also a huge fan of MOAM, Deadbolt, The Bomboras, Satans Pilgrims, Boss Martians, Space Cossacks, Agent Orange,Ventures, Los Straightjackets, The Fathoms, all that good stuff. As soon as we find a practice space, my surf band is gonna try to play some shows.

Yea, First songs I learned to play were to the "play guitar with the Ventures" records. Love the above bands... The Mermen too!

    Beach Boys Sssssssssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccckkk kkkkk.
Check out The Sandblasters and The Penetrators. Rockabilly groups like Brian Setzer and the Reverend Horton Heat kick out some decent surf tunes also. Rev Horton Heat rocks, just flat out rocks. Nothing like tunes about fast cars, old cars, classic cars, boozin', bimbos', getting bombed and did I mention broads, sex and drinkin'? Goddamn gotta love it!!!!

rev gets on my nerves. I've seen them a few times, and I dont know why or what it is about them.

Man or Astroman used to be awesome. I havent seen them in a while but whenever they added vocals to the mix it all went down hill. I remember one guy used to run around with a tv on his head

Moam is on indefinite hiatus, which really really sucks. They are one of those bands that maintains repeat listenability while progressing musically. I equally enjoy the straight up surf of the early stuff (destroy all astroman) to the surf alternofuzz (made from technitium, project infinity) to the spaced out experimental weirdness of the last 2 records. I have to say they are probably on the top of my list of all time favorites.

Glad to hear it. I just wondered because everyone I've asked at my school says surf is "the gayest thing ever", "gayer than classical", "crappy no-talent guitarists" and "what? surf is music?"

yeah, im gonna go see Dick Dale when he comes to Californy next

i'm with you, mellow. granted, you don't actually want to SURF to their stuff... but they're timeless. one of the great early rock bands. i'm not ashamed to say that i jam out to them.... ON VINYL.

yah, sometimes, I haven't done it the past two weeks cause I've been busy. But often times I'll just turn it on in the day cause I have friends who can't keep a music library at work so they just tune into mine. I will accept requests... but I guess you'd need to know my library for that.. hmmmm
