EAST ROCK legit downhill race OCT 10 2009

Hey guys -
CT local Rob Briggs called me today with some good news, he's getting a permit for East Rock Park (I know a bunch of you have skated there), hopefully for October 10 2009. As we all know, the East Coast is in a bit of a drought with legit downhill races... GSI died, no Munnsville this year, no more Top Challenge, etc etc.

East Rock isn't the gnarliest of gnar but it's a fun ride with some good turns, solid for beginners and pro's alike. We're looking at doing a one day event, lots of freeriding/practice in the morning and hopefully Munnsville-style racing in the afternoon, no need for elimination!

We're just looking for some feedback from the locals - would you guys show up? What do you want to see at the race? We know October doesn't give a lot of advanced notice but Oct 12th is Columbus Day making it a long weekend so hopefully a bunch of you guys in school will be able to show up.

im not a local at that point since im in school. but ill come home for the weekend if it's some time other than broadway bomb

The date is still flexable at the moment.
I spent most of my morning talking to the director of parks and rec for the city of new haven, she's stoked, so if the broadway bomb is on the 10th let's race on the 11th.

Entry fees will come in around 30 bucks to cover the permits, haybails, fuel for shuttle trucks, etc..

More info when I get it.
If you live in the north east get excited because this is the real deal.

agreed. but if i can't make both, this is the one. a sanctioned dh race beats potential ny/nj freeriding after the bomb.

Rob, I don't think that we'll need shuttle trucks. Honestly just a waste of money. There are tons of shortcuts to take and its not that long of a hill. I'm just suggesting this to save some money.

And just wondering. Are you planning on requiring leathers?
