Default Any meriden or walingford riders?

I just got into it a few weeks ago. I got a s9 scarab it works good for me so far. Looking for a new board though something better than a s9. But i was wondering if there are any riders around my area. I just liking free riding and bombing big hills. I also have a freind in walingford that longboards but i dont know anyone else in meriden or walingford that longboards. So if you do it would be cool to skate together sometime.

Well - I work in Meriden (MidState Medical Center). Not sure of too many areas to Longboard. Although I DO wonder how that road up to Castle Craig is for the off season?!?!?!

Hamden has a great crew of kids. (Search youtube for Hamden Longboarders). The Farmington River Bike Trail is cool for some flat distance riding. East Rock (New Haven) off season for extreme downhill veteran riders.

Wheelabrator out by Norwich is a fun ride, and that crew <usually> does Sunday sessions at the Stone Garden (look for posts of both in this forum).

The Parking Garage in Waterbury is always a fun time too.

I am seeking riders to cruise downtown Hartford this Saturday (Oct. 24th) for the Hooker Day parade. Hope you can join us

If you are new to Longboarding - I HIGHLY suggest you check out the mag Concrete Wave - LOTS of great longboarding companies are represented. (You can find recent issues at Barnes & Noble, not Borders though...) Locally there is Surf_Rodz (based out of West Haven, but the boards are physically maufactured in Meriden). Check out Impaled Longboards out of New Hartford too.

Most of us started out riding Sector 9's. A GREAT board to get you into it all. Landyachtz is another great board to check out - as well as Comet, Loaded, Original, Insect, and Earthwing. Google all of the aforementioned...

Keep coming back to this forum to seek out local rides/events and to hook up with local riders.

    Hails and welcome...

I grew up in meridan. There arnt many good hills that i would rave about but a couple of fast short runs in the Rolling hill dr. area (my old hood). As far as castle craig goes i know its at least a mile+ and fast cause i used to bomb it on my bike when i was a wee lad but im not to sure how smooth it is. A castle craig scouting run is a sure thing for me the next time im down that way buy if anyone wants to beat me to it and post its road conditions that would sweet cuz when the gate is closed that road is empty.

ill try to check it out tommarow. im going to be skating with my freind from walingford. If i do craig ill probly wear helmet and maybe pads. A kid died on it last year on a bike. Theres also a side road to a radio tower it may be off limits but its paved.

    Hey, welcome to the 'fish.

I'm not exactly in meriden, but if you live in connecticut you're close enough to UConn.

If you're ever in the area, let me know and I'd totally be down to go skate.

BTW, you say you're looking for a new board, eh? I've got a pretty much new Landyachtz Evo deck I'd be willing to get rid of for like $80-90 if you're willing to pick it up. PM me if interested.
