NELB - Let's All Meet...

Hey,

New England Longboarders - can we try to all meet in person somewhere central - and gather up ideas for events in 08?

Yes - the Skate Across CT is in full plan mode - we could cover a LOT of ground if we can all meet and discuss. We could also brainstorm other ideas for the summer/fall, and start to plan them out.

I know Wayne from SurfRodz is behind any and all events - but we need to rally and all get our heads together on possible events - and get everyone on the same page.

We need input for the web site - charity events to plan, races to plan, bombs to plan - From Block Island to the Berkshires - we got a lot of ground to cover - and thats only Southern NE.

Whos down? Somethig like Clinton Crossing? On the shore - not too bad for New Haven or New London area folks...

Im definitly looking foward to the spring for some events. I live in MA, I can travel as far as Rhode Island, and possibly VT for events. I know Ridin High skate shop has a Thrashin Thursday around Burlington VT. I went this summer it was awsome, not sure if there still doing that though. I think an event with sliding, and bombing hills would attract the most people, lets get it done!

I don't know just an idea but the town in which the Hamilton Bros. live. Our town has about fifty thousand dollars to start a skate park and if we need a charity to raise money for I figure that would be an okay idea. I e-mailed one of the members of our parks and recs., somebody who really would like to see a skatepark put in Montville, about this idea to see if there was some thing he could put together on his end but he has not contacted me back.

Brent, has anyone there talked to Jeff Paprocki or BreakingGround about building your park?

Not for a little while, but Orion's girlfriend goes to parties that Jeff sometimes attends to and Orion was hoping to get a chance to talk to him but I have no idea how long it has been since anyone talk to him. Scratch that I saw him at Toad's Place back in October but I kind of wasn't in the mood to talk about the park. Only because I, at the time had no idea what was going on, until like two or three weeks ago found out that when the ground breaks they plan on taking the tennis courts out and want to put the drainage system in then hopefully the park.

I think it would be easiest to get everyone together at a Wheelabrator Jam or something...most of us go there anyway!

Ya - I am thinking wheelabrator as well... I'll have to keep an eye on the post. Supposed to be 15 degrees this Sunday - no thanks...

I'll be up in Torrington at lease once a week starting in Feb. - would love to meet with you guys up there at some point - even if it is just to discuss things. I'll let you know - and I have Tobes phone number...

We too are trying to traise money for a skate park in Prospect. The MAthew Kenny Memorial skate park. He was a 14 yo student who got hit on his bike and died. MY daughter actually had classes with him. It was a very tragic event for our community. (Saddest wake I have ever been to). The school he went to - Long River Middle Scool would be perfect for a slalom event - nice windy hill going down to the school - with a decent run off - it would be fun on a longboar to - but for quick runs...

SO many events to plan as well... we gotta rake all these ideas up, and put em in one pile!

I've been thinking about setting a HS on the BP at Wheelabrator once it warms up and I get my hanger back from Geezer I think I will. I know at least one other person who would skate it (xxguitarist do you hear me?)

I'm from Torrington as well. If you wanted to meet up with Tobes and myself at some point...maybe hammer out some details on future events...i'm down.

the boston crew is down. it would be nice to meet and discuss events for the upcoming year. we'd like to host a jam in boston for all our friends in new england.

What about another meet up out in Amherst. Mount Holyoke would be sick to hit again, and there are plenty of other hills out there, like Gulf Road, and the 65mph one to name a few.
