Default Sliding at Quinnipiac in Hamden

I just rode this hill for the first time today.

It is 4 lanes wide, with no steady traffic. I was there for a half hour, and only 3 cars drove up, and 3 drove down.

This is the driveway to Quinnipiac's new ice rink and sports complex.
It is steep enough and long enough for a string of at least 6 good slides, even from where I started, which was at the first turn up.
Riding from the top, I would guess at anywhere between 15 and 20 slides. The hairpin is not too sharp, so you may even be able to get in a slide or two through the turn.
It is in Hamden, CT which is right next to New Haven.
If you like sliding, you'll love this place.

    Come check it out.

Sweet - try to look for a schedule of the rink to see when it might ge crowded there (cars and such).

I still must bomb SCSU sometime soon...

in reference to the map, which road is the one you're sliding on?

it's the hill with the nice long hairpin about halfway down.

Wayne: you're right about the no runout thing but it's almost impossible not
to stop at the bottom of the hill when you're sliding it.

    I checked it out today.

    Great veiw from the top.

Totally worth driving out to this place.

NO LIGHTS as of right now though, so it has to be a daytime thing.

but yeah, ill try to get a skedge of when sporting events are. i dont expect it to be used very much during the spring/summer b/c hockey and basketball are both winter sports.

rob we should meet up out there sometime next week. I can be there around 5 everyday but monday i think.

By the looks of all the construction at the top I don't even think it is open at the moment.

have u checked out the backside?
    kimberley ave?
looks like it could be fun for some speed but pavement quality could be iffy.
I might come check it out if the weather is clear and I finish up this other stuff I have to do round the house

Yo Rob the main road up there is open. theyre putting in more parking at the top, theyre done with the construction part.

Julien- I think that Kimberly is probably junk pavement but will probably be repaved eventually because of the newness of the sporsplex. but maybe not, the part that i have ridden is owned by Q. i think that kimberly is owned by the town, but it is always possible that Q will pay to have it repaved, or has already bought / will eventually buy kimberly

I'm gonna be there so long as it's not raining.

Not only is one of the best potential slide run's I've seen around here, it also has a giant sweeping left hand hairpin for some speeding.
So long as you can throw a BBBIGGG pendy before bottom that is.
