Re: Broadway Bomb 2009 -- Let the hype begin
Haha I am in a tan hoodie to the right of Ian. That dude directly to my left was nuts, he dove into the crowd for a board. Everyone look at him and remember who he is.

Re: Broadway Bomb 2009 -- Let the hype begin
That was truly awesome. Last year was my first Broadway Bomb and I didn’t think this one could top it, but it did. I trained a little this time and it paid off, as I finished in 46 minutes, compared to over an hour last year. For me, there is nothing like the finish line of the Broadway Bomb. Getting high fives from the dudes you rode with and sharing stories about almost getting hit by this taxi or that bus. But most of all, just knowing you made it more than 8 miles through the heart of the greatest city in the world, conquering all obstacles: terrain, potholes, sewer grates, hoses (?!), cars, busses, taxies, bikers, pedestrians, other skaters, cops, weather. There’s nothing like it.
Thanks to Ian, Bustin, NYPD and everyone who came and skated and/or supported. This event will not be soon forgotten and I am already stoked for 2010!

Yeah!! that docu-style video is sweet. I was the the dude who got smoked by the civic and interviewed. Any way of getting the un-edited version?

Re: Broadway Bomb 2009 -- Let the hype begin
I was talking to matt (the one with the flip cam) after the race, and he said he got footage of the crash... so let's hope he puts it up!
I squeezed past some cop cars and vans, but mostly got harassed my some psycho ped who tripped the guy in front of me and then kicked my board out of the way and grabbed my shoulder and started cursing me out... with his two little kids watching. And then when I jumped over the barricade at the end just for fun the police were like, "Do you even have a brain?" Ha, i guess not.

Re: Broadway Bomb 2009 -- Let the hype begin
Its too bad that we cant do something of this magnitude more often. I told myself I wasnt going to really push this year bc of a bum knee, but I felt too inspired. Too inspired by the day, the break in what appeared to be crappy weather, and the masses who all came out to ride NYC's most iconic strip.
Thanks to the NYPD for escorting us almost without incident. Thanks to Ian, for being the "only one stupid enough to organize an outlaw skate". And most importantly, thanks to all of the riders that showed up to push rain or shine. 363 more days...

There was a cruiser or two about 2/3 back in the pack, driving in the left lane and stopping in the intersections. They kept telling us to stay in one lane. They pretty much kept the crazy cabs from running the intersections while we went through the red lights, and didn't pull anyone over. However, by about 60-70th street they were gone, pretty much where the cops on the ground started harassing skaters.
