Default Broadway Bomb 2009 -- Let the hype begin

Noticed a lot of Bomb mentions popping up here and elsewhere in the last week. And this interesting post:

There is no Race like the Broadway Bomb « Brooklyn Barbarosa

Will the new Times Square catch skaters like flypaper?
Will Theseus burn the city down with his taildevils?
Will a new winner emerge from...Ohio?

    Let the hype begin.

The winner this year will be wearing a viking helmet, but with one broken horn.

oh please with the new traffic thing going through times square will be easier, i'm good at people slalom (i'm a veteran in that discipline). Last year, 42nd street and Union square were the only places I had to actually slow down to a stop.

Really want to make out to NYC for this event. More detail please.
Would like have some of my crew there as well, but everyone's broke.
Me and my EW are itching for some big city asphalt/garage bombing.

Archy, can me and my crew (SA longboarders) crash stay at your pad?
We can pay a deposit to cover any incidentals or ramifications.

Here's a pic of the contestants(all 17 of us) in the first Bomb - 2002. I think the hype has picked up a bit since then. 250+ last year?
Archy, I'll definitely see you at this one. I missed Central Park by about an hour, and ended up cruising around with some stragglers and hanging out at the boathouse with the nylba crew. Heard about the drama though.

Broken bit stuck in some careless pedestrian 50 blocks uptown?

It's definitely a possibility--have to see when it is and how it falls vis a vis child-care and gf-maintenance logistics. PM me when there's a date and I'll see what I can do.

That is a great place to study broads. Available in many flavors. Often gorgeous. And all very liberal.

Well, things were way different back then young man. Broadway was all up hill then, both ways, and paved with cobblestone. The clay wheels didn't help either.
Actually, the race was sponsored by RedBull, so the hotties in the mini cooper cooler cars kept us happy and wired (Very cool). Also cool was riding through the Korean Day Parade(True story). Could you imagine 250+ doing that? Maybe if we're lucky we'll get the chance.

This thread (below) was the sum Siverfish hype of the first Bomb. It was discussed much more on ncdsa which, at the time, was the go to longboard site. That has obviously since changed. The Fish has come a long way.

Yeah man, this race transcends fun. Everybody wins. Just finishing means you succesfully dodged cops, cars, fellow skaters, pedestrians, potholes, parade grand marshals (if we're lucky), tourists, bicyclists, viking helmets, etc. Making it through unscathed is victory for sure. This year should be interesting.
