WHERE: The race starts in Williamsburg-Brooklyn @ 426 Wythe Ave. between Broadway and South 6th street. The finishline is the southeast corner of Tompkins Square Park @ Avenue B and E. 7th st.
COURSE FAQ'S: The route is 4.5 miles through New York City's hippest hoods. The course starts one block south of the Williamsburg Bridge on Wythe street. Skaters will start heading East on South 6th street then turn left on Bedford Ave. This is the most crowded stretch of the race. The roads are decent in Williamsburg but beware of wandering hipsters! Bedford Ave. is the Mecca of the ultra hip New York City social scene. This is a good opportunity to turn your swag on and show off your steez. The 1st segment of Bedford is a casual DH grade with two stoplights at the bottom at Grand St. and Metropolitan Ave. Approach with a slight footbrake if the lights are red, go hard if they're green. The 2nd segemt of Bedford is a slight uphill with another casual DH grade following. No sliding speed check is necessary on Bedford but be extra aware of pedestrian/vehicle traffic as Bedford often gets congested.
The next turn is left on North 12th street heading east toward the East River. The grade is a comfortable DH section that ends at Kent Ave which runs along the East River. Do not fly through the stop sign at the bottom, instead make a controlled left turn onto the bike path that runs along both sides of Kent Ave. This is the flat power section. Step up your pace and make up time on this flat section with breathtaking views of Manhattan and east River.
As you approach the Williamsburg Bridge that towers over you, turn left on South 5th street and kick the uphill section to the Williamsburg Bridge Greenway path at the base of the Bridge @ S. 5th and Roebling. Watch for bike/pedestrian traffic exiting the bridge bike path. Make a right turn on the path and get ready for the best uphill section of the race, a 3/4 mile carefully engineered uphill push to the top then the best DH segment crossing the East River and dropping into New York City.
The Williamsburg Bridge DH section is easy to carve out without speed checks and quite fast and smooth if you decide to bomb. Be aware of bike traffic in both directions and STAY IN YOUR LANE!!! There are many videos of the Williamsburg Bridge, I suggest you review them and prepare accordingly. The Manhattan side of the bridge ends somewhat abruptly between Eastbound and Westbound Delancey St. traffic. DO NOT RIDE INTO TRAFFIC, YOU COULD DIE. Ride out the bridge and take note of a small curb you will hop over if going too fast. No worries, the bridge has a controlled run off area but practice caution if new to this area.
Clinton street is directly across Delancey street at the bottom of the bridge. When you regain speed control check for vehicle traffic and cross Delancey skating north on Clinton street, which changes to Avenue B after a few blocks. There is a bike path on Clinton and you will be skating with traffic. This is the final stretch of the race before you reach Tompkins Square Park at 7th street so step up your pace and finish well.

BAHAHAHAHAHA! I used to live on S11th and Kent. Getting drunk as hell and causing chaos on bedford ave on longboards was our specialty. I'll have to see if I can get down there for this one, I'm always down to stroll through the old hood.

you think i wanted to see you get away with it? you were everything i was and everything i wanted to be, everything we'd all like to be. now that we know better, we don't take the chances, we know sooner or later it always catches up with you.
Sunday, September 20th at 3:30pm we will start the race. I assume most skaters will be there by 3pm. We have a "social area" for skaters that arrive early. The best way to get the starting line is skate over the Williamsburg Bridge, located on the east side of manhattan at Delancey Street in the Lower East Side. The Starting line is South 6th street and Wythe Avenue, which is located 1 block south of the Williamsburg Bridge on Wythe.
If you have guests attending the race, there is a great standing area at the crest of the Williamsburg Bridge with epic views of the city. This is halfway though the race and willbe a good place to watch.
The 4.5 mile course tours the best parts of Williamsburg - Brooklyn and the Lower east Side of Manhattan. Dress to impress the thousands of hipsters you will pass along the way. Anton, this is a good race for the love boxers.
All in all this is a great excuse for us east siders to kick it and enjoy a great rip through the hippest place in New York City. I will guarantee a goodtime, rain or shine.
If I can get out there next weekend I'm skating the whole thing with my #### out and writing "I listen to bands that haven't even been born yet, and only their early stuff" on my dick, because I have enough room. So don't trip over my dick.

It is Sunday the 20th! If you get lost on turn one then u r screwed, otherwise you have no where to go other than south to the bridge! I wonder how many people will eat it on the up hill! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Long-B...5923901?ref=ts
The Brooklyn Blitz is a time trial for the Broadway Bomb. All of the best skaters will be there and rankings will be assigned based on performance. Each rider will have opportunity to learn another competitor's strategy through crowds, traffic, slope, flats and speed. Do you have what it takes to finish with the best?
This sounds great! It's for sure Sunday? There's supossedly a cow roast this sunday in alphabet city (at this place "the sunburnt cow") around lunchtime - hopefully I can stuff my face before the race, yeah!

what rankings? i finished near last in the blitz (almost on purpose). and.......? just skate bro. my strategy for the bomb is to skate faster than everyone else.
I was running late, so I got off the L and ran onto bedford street after seeing three skaters fly past and just started there. I don't know if that counts as cheating but it doesn't matter since I also got almost last. Bridge wasn't too crowded, but I was a little leery, because last time I was on it I busted my knee up when some guys with street decks got caught on the expansion joints. Rode around with Stuart afterwards and saw Open Road Park for the first time - really cool place.
