freaking great day, thank you all for making it rock :)
i've had a very busy week, sorry i haven't gotten in some replies here yet :)
sensei, thanks for setting it all up and finding that garage, great place to ride, aside from the cops...
i really got to put my lbl 60" to work and boy was it fun. go big on a nice wide hill like that, it's an experience :)
if you ever have a chance to ride with boe, do it. he brought an entire board shop's worth of completes with him and told us to get riding :) i think i rode everything he brought with him, or at least every variation. if you're looking to go long, a fatboy will treat you well. and if you're looking to slalom, a boo fatboy is a thing of beauty.
some mini reviews:
i dug the streetcarver, though it was a really weird ride. no return to center, and it carves tighter and tighter, the nautilus boe was talking about, as you lean in. heavy as hell to walk back up the hill and the concave is weird. fun to ride, no way i'd spring for one though.
flowboards are way too weird for me. also no return to center, but wobbly as all get out and since there is no real resistance to turning, i was nervous. i like to get low and grab an edge to turn, on the flowboard it can just roll over to the ground completely, no stopping point. just not my bag.
60" carbon fiber holomama with exkates was a blast, dino made a sweet deck. not much flex for me, probably great for boe :)
fatboy coffin/vlam hardwood/vlam bamboo were all a blast. ride em with jones, exkates, randalls, seismics, original 10s, it's all good. excellent workmanship on these, mostly stiff and flat, great big board feel.
fatboy slalom bamboo decks are gorgeous. the wood grain is real pretty and the decks are light and thin. slalom stance is a bit narrow for my tastes, but they're fun to ride and i could get into it.
george had a lbl slalom deck that was a fun little cruiser. again, so small for my tastes, but he was really all over the place with it. so funny to watch him tic tac up the hill during the longest ride contest.
it was really nice meeting everyone and just hanging out. i'm def. looking forward to doing it again soon.

Thanks Philo for taking advantage of all the boards I brought! That was EXACTLY why I did that - so I could save you guys some dough. Luckily, through the company, we got most of that stuff wholesale. But a good deal of it we bought at retail just because we always wanna see what's out there. We wanna offer our customers anything that we've ridden and think is cool. We stock a LOT of trucks and wheels for customers, and we can special order almost anything we don't stock. But if ya' don't ride the $hit, ya' never know what it's like

Jersey guys - GOOD STUFF!
Hopefully I can get in one of these sessions soon. I've been in the process of moving for the past few weeks so I haven't been online to see what's been going on or do any skating. Hopefully I free up and another session goes on in a few weeks. Have fun at Round 2!

"We" as in Longboards by Fatboy Inc., the skateboard company that I work at with other folks that we all share in the responsibility of running and manufacturing skateboards at. If there were any actual "profits", we would share in them I registered the name and payed the lawyer and started the corporation, but there's a few people involved in the company - most of them have a board named after them. Sassy does our bookkeeping, Curbhowler does the website, Scooter and the Big Tuna do some shaping and a lot of R&D. "O" helps out too (you guys know him as Finner ) with design work. Lil Tuna also does some design work and she gives us the thumbs up or down on some of the color schemes. Sprout gave us our slogan, "It's not a skateboard, baby - it's a longboard!". And there are others that help out and they'll most likely have their own board model at some point.
