So I should be able to slide my 80a Gravity's?
Today I tried the first time Central park, up from downtown to 100th and something street.
It was awesome, because I am new to skating and longboarding at all and just have a good stand for a beginner I'd say xD So It was nice to board down the decent hills in Central Park, except the last one, were I thought if I stand it, but worked fine. So now I just need some nice gloves...In know here are threads about gloves, but could anyone recommend somethin?
The strike one looks awesome btw, I think I will have to decide between the cigar and the strike next year
@ Captain-Obvious I try to find this Riverside spot, sounds good.
See you...

I think the decision has allready been made anyway...STRIKE It just looks to good, and I think the ergonomy of the board is great. And of course with the wheel bite you're ride, don't want that. So then I just need gloves... And time and no rain

Re: Manhattan fun spots?
I live way Downtown a.k.a. 10th St. and I normally rip down Broadway to the Broadway Banks late at night. Sometimes I'll go to Washington Park (when there aren't any people) and just rip around and around and around and around and around and around... or Union Square. At the back of Union Square there's nice flat area for messin' around.

Re: Manhattan fun spots?
I have some pretty good Downhill spots in Staten Island (.5 miles long, 10% grade, ends in an intersection) SO YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SLIDE SUFFICIENTLY. I will not tell you where these spots are (google maps makes it very easy to find anyway) but if you want to come skate with me (or GravityRider15) we're out in Bay Ridge and i'd be happy to show you a good time across the bridge. Staten Island is the best spot to skate (besides possibly some parts of the Bronx) in NYC. The cloisters has hills, but they'll kick you out if they notice you're there (especially on the foot paths).
And @ the guy who hangs out at Union Square, I go to school there (Xavier H.S.) so I might see you every once in a while, I always see some guys out there skating doing flatland when I go there at night

The Bustin Strike is quite possibly one of the worst boards I have ever ridden. Excellent construction, but jeez.

Re: Manhattan fun spots?
I think the main reason people hate on the strike is for very minor petty reasons. 1. because of the wedging the trucks dont sit flat, this doesnt really affect anything at all but I did have to keep tightening my hardware as it broke in. 2. I hear that the mounting hardware dig in to randalls, which can be remedied by flipping the hardware or just letting them wear in, I use grizzlies so I didnt have a problem. 3. It takes a couple hours to get comfy with the contours of the board as they are a lot different than most.
Personally, I love the strike. A small, light, dropthrough with a kicktail, whats not to love? The sweet spot at the front of the board is fantastic. This board is my baby.
And also, Ive never been on a single deck and thought, this board sucks. Every board is a little different and therefore can be ridden and manipulated in different ways. Its all about preferance and opinion.

The fact that the trucks don't sit flat affects their turning angle, which is kind of a big deal. The thing that I don't like about the strike is that the back is wedged, which makes it really squirrelly. You can always wedge it flat though.
