    Default Central Park Race

The Central Park Race today was a lot of fun. I didn't get to race (mom wouldn't let me), but I'm definitely going to next year, now that she's seen it's safe. I did go from the starting point, around to the east side, and then to 90th street, and back, so I did skate about the length of the race. I met Philo and Sensei, and everyone there was pretty cool. So, who else was there?

Very fun day, what'd everyone else think?

    -Jason

the race was pretty sweet. i didn't ride it, but i did take a ton of pics which i'll post later. watching the start was fantastic, 50 some odd longboarders all starting at once was a sight to behold.

pics and such later, it's too nice to be inside today :)

Yeah, the start of the race was cool. There were 55 guys there, I think. And the organizer/announcer was crazy, haha. Some quotes:

"Alright, every racer is going to be carrying a kilo of cocaine, and we're gonna have the cops follow you. So whoever doesn't get in first place is going to jail."

"WE NEED A ******* TIMER! WHO THE **** IS TIMING THE RACE?! WHERE IS THE ******* CLOCK?!"

"I don't remember because I did too much stuff as a teenager."

"And in 5th place...Doug! Or....Dan? Is there a Doug or a Dan or something?"

    Funny guy.

Yeah, definately alot of fun! Kudos to Bill and Ian for another great race, and of course all the sponsors for the prizes. It was great to get up Sat morning and hit the waves (waist ta chest w/ offshore winds ) and then head into the city to race around CP. Yep, I was definately tired later that day. Who won the race? I had to bounce cause I had to go to work. Well, c-ya all there next year .

That Race was killer! That start was insane! It was like longboarders just straight up took over the world for that few minutes.

It was alot of fun. I'm happy my fat-as$ actually finnished. My time was 35:37, and I didn't come in last! It was cool to met philo and Jaykay. Everyone there was really cool, no bull$hit over competivness or anything. I was actually having conversations with people about my setup DURING the race Everyone was there just to have fun, which is what its all about. Hey phil, were you the dude with the x's tattooed on your ankles? I was the guy that was right next to you when we got close to the finnish line.

You guys should've stayed for the SkateMentor thing. I got to see a bunch of kids get totally stoked on skating for the first time. They wouldn't give our boards back! My landy took a few lumps for it, but it was well worth it.

After all that, I went and saw LODT for the first time! It was a killer day!

Any of you guys going to the Broadway Bomb?

I'll probably go to the Broadway Bomb just to watch and stuff...Then probably head over to Chelsea Piers skatepark.

Yeah, everyone there was really cool and there to have fun. I wasn't aware of the skatementor thing. When was it?

about an hour or so after the race, when everyone headed over to the boathouse for some beers. It was in the boathouse's parking lot.

Boe, you gotta come next year. Its so much fun. My favorite quote from the day was Ian reading off the winners: "ok, in seventh place was, oh *****, I don't know, who came after this guy? yeah, your not lying? all right take some $hit"

That's MY kinda race!!!! I remember when mountain bike races used to be like that.

What really sucked was that my weekend plans got all screwed up and that it ended up that I probably coulda gone to the race, but I didn't find out till like Saturday morning. I didn't have directions, I didn't have a board put together, I didn't know where my helmet was - all lame I know. I totally dropped the ball and should be mocked.............let it rip!
